You still have to qualify by age first played in either state, so it's still state against state, mate against mate, bro against bro from NZ who's still a kiwi even though you left home young. It can still work as a concept imo Wrighty, even if it does also function as a Kiwis trial.

Yeah I see that argument.
You still need to meet the current eligibility criteria though.
So they are still true NSW and QLD players they just represent a different Country.
This makes the International game a more level playing field for England and NZ.

New Zealand could have deliberately played a stinker against the Kumuls last year become Tier 2, wonder if at any stage that had crossed their minds.

He didn't need residency requirements as he has heritage. His first failed attempt at switching was in 2022 when he was living in Australia
