International New Zealand Kiwis

On a side note, and of a (potentially) little concern….

Do we see a world where Stacey just picks Niukore, CNK and Clark?
In a, I have to worry about my day job. Kinda thing.

Only an idiot would put CNK at fullback over Ponga. Kini offers more offence.
And surely he can’t pick CNK over Seb Kris at centre. Kris is in brilliant form.

And Niukore……… Yeah.

Yeah I could certainly live with Leota over Thompson. Although I kinda feel we need to give Thompson reps.

But for a 30ish minute stint. And angry, hard running Leota would be very handy.

Once again though, if Hughes goes down. Then what? There is no Johnson to take over.
Foran could probably do it, but if he goes down. (Highly likely) Then what?
Nikorima-Brown halves combo gives me the sweats.
I’d probably even go Crossland-Brown over that. At least Crossland can defend.

I think if both go down it will be SJ 😂 He should be able to do it for a couple of weeks

TMM?

If both Hughes and Foran go down. I’d wave that starting halves jersey at King-Togia, Fainu, Strange, Weekes, Toelau or any other young half. Lock them down lol.

If Brown goes down, I’d give the 6 to CHT over Nikorima. At least he can hold his own on defence and would be better offensively than CNK. Help him develop even more as well.

We gotta be pretty unlucky to lose Hughes, Foran, Nikorima, Brown and Crossland. But the fact we still have options is actually quite remarkable. Even Ponga is an option lol.

Corey Harawira-Naera cleared for NRL return

The second-rower hasn’t played in almost two years.

Scott Pryde

Canberra Raiders second-rower Corey Harawira-Naera is set for a rugby league return almost two years after suffering an on-field seizure that was set to end his career.

The second-rower, who moved to the Raiders after spending time at the Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs over the first three years of his NRL career, was playing in the 123rd game of his NRL career when, against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, he suffered the on-field medical episode.

A cause for the seizures has not been found, despite the second-rower undergoing two years worth of tests.

Despite that, The Sydney Morning Herald have revealed he has been cleared to make his NRL return, with the competition to not stand in his way if any club wants to register a contract for the second-rower.

“We've gotten to a place where I can start looking ahead and planning to get back on the field,” he was quoted as saying by the publication.

“Knowing in the back of my mind that there's a chance of getting back on the field, I felt lighter straight away. A whole lot of heavy head noise subsided pretty quickly.”

The forward, who spent time as a trainer in the NSW Cup for the Raiders after the seizures meant he was medically not allowed to play, has stayed in touch with the game during his absence, and has never stopped on his pursuit to return, despite reports suggesting on multiple occasions that he wouldn't be able to do so.

“I'm not going to lie, it's been pretty taxing. Mainly mentally,” he said.

“Sometimes you just want to have an answer instead of not knowing. I couldn't plan ahead, I didn't know what I was doing next week for a good two years in a row.

“There was no deadline to work towards, that was the biggest drainer of my energy. Is it done? Am I chance? Do I hang the boots up?”

The second-rower, who will have a long path back to match fitness, said he is hoping that the two-year absence may actually prolong his career.

It's unclear at this stage if the Raiders will look to extend his contract and have him return with the club, or if the Kiwi, who has played Test match rugby league for his nation, will have to look elsewhere for a deal.

Apart from Toelau who was picked last year. We have next to zero chance of getting any of those kids. Latu born in Oz. Has a māori parent tho. King - Tongia born in Nz, Moved when he was very young to Oz. And touted as a future Origin player(His father Sasa is Steve Matai's brother. Bit of useless info)

Strange has his sights set on a origin & Kangaroos jersey. And Weekes has already turned us down to pursue Origin.

Hopefully uncle Steve can prompt him to the Black and white.

A lot has to happen for any of that to happen anyway. We still have plenty of options.

Brown
Nikorima

Timoko, Pompey & Mariner before Hiku for mine. Tamale is Australian born, does he have NZ heritage?

KL Iro will have been eligible previously, due to residency, but is he able to be selected? Cook Island born but his dad Kevin might've been NZ born

Answering my own question but Kevin Iro was born in NZ.
When the Kiwis tried to get Takakai to commit it was because Niue is a NZ territory. I don't think he had any other links to NZ.
Would the same apply with all Kuki too?
