International New Zealand Kiwis

But they can lol. They can swap to a tier 2 nation. They can't swap from a tier 1 nation to another tier 1 nation which if the rumours are true, Ponga is
trying to do. He can't as apparently, The world 9s count as a test. Only Australia, England & New Zealand are Tier 1.

I don't know if Grieg would make a Kiwis A team. Hes a sloth. Or even Cheese? Laban or Foran would take that bench spot before he does. Brown to partner Hughes.
Current form Xavier Willison to start ahead of Thompson. Which would give us some size.
And someone shared an article that Mulitalo has already committed to the Kiwis. He'd have one wing.

9s is not a test status, and they discussed on 360 the key point was SOO they glossed over 9s. IMO 9s is a grey area just depending on how the board want to rule it, Ponga probably has the status to strong arm them

Lol…..
Yeah, I was listing out the players who LITERALLY can’t. (To my knowledge) I’m well aware of the rules.
I.e. Who else can Foran play for? No one to my knowledge.

I’m not talking about like Ireland or whatever other country. Just the “main” ones plus the islands.

Example; Casey McLean could play for Australia. Cause he was born there……
But he can’t now, cause he’s played for us.

As I originally wrote, if any on the list are wrong. Please enlighten.

There’s been so much hoopla this week over Haas potentially playing for Toa.
I think the league will have to finally address this issue.
Looks like 3 options imo

  1. Leave as is (This discriminates against the Kiwis and England highlighted by Radley born and bred NSW boy but can’t play but Tier 2 nations can)
  2. To play SOO you have to play for Australia (International footy does overnight. Aussie will stockpile Pasifika players and competitive Internationals will turn back to Aussie, NZ and England only)
  3. Open up SOO for Kiwi and English players as well if they qualify (What’s the difference for tier 2 players being eligible. International footy will continue to grow. Best players in the competition playing SOO. Not like it opens for everyone you need to meet the Origin criteria to play)

Open it up SOO will become a Tonga/Samoa trial match or Tonga vs Samoa, but you get the best players for both series but risk diluting with same players and work overload

Maybe pay more for internationals on par with SOO then you get a true Australian SOO and you get “exclusives” of Samoa/Tonga/Kiwi players in the end of year internationals and world cups, and elite players don’t need to be physically exhausted every year

Players can choose and have 2 years stand down

As a dual national myself I just find it funny guys calling themselves QUEENSLANDA nekt minute in OCT they’re all about their true root to their culture 😂 It means more to yourself and the group when you actually make a hard decision and give up something than having everything whenever

9s was the only thing stopping him according to Mal Meninga? Lol. He hasn't played a test for Australia yet. I can't see why he can't play for us.

Mel has conflict of interest and the panel didn’t know jack, I believed them then did some research myself plus listening to 360 and it became apparent don’t listen to people who have alternative motive or grudge to grind 😂

Gotcha! Probably only Timoko. He is eligible for Samoa as well. I doubt it tho.

Mal use to be my goat. Until this Ponga shit. Trying to bully him last year. Hes done the same to several eligible Queensland Kiwis over the years. Hope we get one back with Ponga!!

Who are our 100% players?
They just can’t jump ship?
As it stands today……
(Assuming everyone is fit)

1. TMM
2. Warbrick
3. Berry
4. Timoko
5. McLean
6. Foran
7. Hughes
8. JFH
9. JMK
10. Thompson
11. Nikora?
12. Riki
13. Tapine
14. Cheese
15. Neame
16. Grieg
17. Crossland

It’s actually pretty hard. Still a bloody good team though IMO.
Obviously there are “eligible” players that just simply won’t jump ship.

If any are wrong, please enlighten us.
Not a bad side without ship jumpers.

Erin Clarke
Kodi Nikorima to name a couple more.

Mal absolute legend of the game player wise.
He’s been a sook as Aussie coach though.
He cried about Suaalii playing for Toa but at the same time selecting Radradra for the Kangaroos when he wasn’t eligible for NSW.
Also countless times selecting players who represented tier 2 nations first but cries a river when players go the other way.

How about players only being eligible for the country they were born in? Or state in the case of origin?
Or is that too simple?

Ya birthplace or bloodline, that’s literally what the word origin means, that was the draw. State of origin, nation of origin

SOO should be Aussie Europeans + aboriginals, then Tongans, Samoans and Kiwis, Brits beat each other up. If they want to enhance prestige of pacific teams they need to make those players exclusive

It’s becoming the equivalent of say NZ cricket state of origin where half the players are named Muhammad or Singh, I am sure the inventors of the series weren’t envisioning that 😂

Does anyone think CHT would come back to the kiwis is asked?

Our halves
J Hughes
D Brown
K Foran
T Toelau
K Nikorima
T M Martin
N Puru ?

Not sure where puru stands eligibility wise. Did I hear Ethan Strange has ties to NZ?
Strange does, but NSW also have their eye on him as a future 6. His sister Jasmin has played for the māori Allstars but has recently decided to represent England.

I think I’d take Seb Kris over either of them centers.

There is an obvious solution to the eligibility problems.

Let the players decide. Let them switch teams, remove all barriers.

Players who play for the Kangaroos would be eligible for the Kiwis, and vice versa. Provided you have either lived in a country for a year or have some ancestral links to that country then allow free movement for all.

The problem really is that people are bogged down in this old and now irrelevant model of nationhood to the extent that Sports bodies are behaving as though they immigration officers enforcing visas and birthrights.

Playing for a country should be about desire to serve, not some bullshit outdated, now hypocritical mess that is neither fair, nor recognizes that people can and do belong to more than one country in terms of what is in a mans spirit and that is really what matters.

Stopping an Indigenous māori playing for New Zealand is just thinking gone mad. Hopefully the Ponga case is the one that tears the whole dam system down and Anyone can play for New Zealand from anywhere, irrespective of who they have represented in the past.

The current system is Colonization.
