Potentially was a factor but that’s sport.

Do we start sitting out players if we have a 5 day turnaround game? After long flights? Towards the end of the season?

If a player is injured early in a game and your asking another player to play long extra minutes it’s probably a worse fatigue and injury risk than what Barnett was asked to do.
In fact the game is designed to fatigue players to the point they make errors and mistakes late in the game.

He’s played a lot of games in the last 3 years. Finals in 23 rep football in 24. Eventually he was going to get injured as he probably doesn’t know how to manage his workload.

NRL games:

2022 14 games (knights season before joining us)
2023 15 games (big neck injury)
2024 23 games
2025 11 games (ACL)

He’s actually played a low amount of available games for the Warriors.

Yep I agree....always feels like injuries happen more towards end of season generally and we can't just stop players playing

This injury to Mitch Barnett is a mark against Webster in this instance.

Did we need Barnett to play on sunday? Turned out we didn't in the end, so im sure webby will learn from this. Barnett didn't need to back up when we are going well, a little game management here should have happened.

I see you have been taking a hammering.

Far be it from me to miss out on my share lol.

Here goes....if your argument about over workload is correct (you might be right) the problem is the NRL not the Warriors.

Lets be clear, those stupid mid season Origin games are about revenue and they have zero player welfare in mind, zero care for the clubs affected.

Problem is theirs not Websters. He should be able to play his critical player that millions of dollars go into keeping them fit and healthy.

Metcalf touch wood seems to be injury free this year and they invested a lot into his rehab which seems to be working. They will probably do the same with Barnett
Looks like it’s always on Metcalf’s mind with how he made that break, he hit top speed but as soon as he knew he was safe he buttoned off. Often see it with players, but I think there’s been plenty of occasions where you can see Metcalf playing within himself a bit. He’s really playing that 2023 SJ role well though. Not quite with the try assists, but injecting himself into the game and his target zone of keeping opponents starting sets out of their 20m

Someone should do a side to side analysis of his running compared to 2023, he looks quite goofy with his running style (extra long strides) albeit very very fast, but he stays at 3rd gear to preserve himself, or maybe he does hit top speed but just looks weird doing so lol

When he was nearing the try line, I thought he looked like he was favouring one side to me?

Looking at Sam Walker's returning schedule (he's back this week at cup?), Barney will probably be ready for Cup early March and give it 4-6 weeks between cup and FG he should be back to normal in April, though not sure how to account for the pre-season, individualized program? His pre-season starts now lol

He’ll miss a majority of preseason too if not all of it
