One glimmer of hope that I have for this team is how AFB left at the end of last year.
None of us knew where we were getting his meters from.
No one player has been able to simply replicate or even get close to what he does on the field, but by sharing the load we haven't missed his huge meters.

With 2 byes in the next 5 weeks, I'm hoping Webby is able to formulate a plan that allows us to cover MOST of what Mitch brings to the table.

I said it in another thread, but we're quite fortunate to be carrying TMM atm, essentially as cover on the bench. I think that having 2 players (my picks would be TSS and Ale) could essentially cover most of what Mitch does, even offering a little more physicality in the middle than what TMM does.

Yes, wed be down our cover, but I think that's better than having cover, and still having the massive hole Mitch leavez

I think Ford is up to the task. He's been far improved this year.

He made 90 post contact metres during the Raiders game, so really it's a case of consistency for him to become as damaging as Barney. Where we are losing the most, I think, is the level headed nature of our beloved co-captain.

JFH is really going to have to make sure he dodges every suspension between now and the end of the year as the next one he gets will most definitely be more than one week.

Ford has improved agreed and we also need remind ourselves he has been playing Prop forward for five minutes.

I think if they coach him to go looking for the ball off Egan right after we have gotten a decent play the ball, that he is mobile enough to at least keep that roll on, which would make him look good out there, be a massive injection for his confidence and ongoing development as a prop.

Ford can take Barney's job description while Barney can sit around the goal posts for team talks

The problem with Ford moving up is we will miss his amazing injection off the bench this year, so someone needs to be a work horse while eating up huge meters for 30-40min off the bench

im hoping Laban can fill 'that role off the bench

Remember a few years ago when the Warriors were on track for a top 8 finish and then SJ got injured and they fell into a hole - not winning another game that year?

Hmmmm , will the same thing happen with Barnett and the Warriors in 2025???

Based on raiders game without BOTH captains and Webby’s upgraded coaching this year we should be fine as long as Fish is there to take on big teams

No
Coach AW has diversified the side and introduced young guys with their energy
And the NSW cup coach has done an awesome job bringing through players who slot in to fg
And behind all that Cappy working on the roster is a big unseen driver
I could quibble about the forward picks but the coach has me neutered - he produces win after win

Even if it does this season's our best ever start, it gives us something awesome to build on next year.

A really important point.

This is where having a personable guy like Webster in charge is perfect for Warriors syndrome.

He gets along with everyone, he gets results, and he doesn't wear thin on you.

I think Websters personality as much as anything is what will get the Warriors to where they want to be eventually....because at the core of the clubs biggest flaws is relationship problems between owners and coaches, and coaches and players.

Thankfully Webster is the type of guy that Mohawk obviously gets along with, the same will be true for McFadden. And that is what we need most, long term staffing stability.

So to your point, if we tank....at least Webster has created a season start where the owner can sit back and go....yeah ok.....we are getting somewhere despite falling apart through bad luck....this season is already a winner....sold out stadium.....big away crowds.....merch going off...online support going off....up the Wahs is still a phenomena etc etc.

So he's a sort of anti-Madge?

Difference is there was a lot of a heavier reliance on one bloke, with Barnett that isn't the case.

Not saying we aren't going to miss him, however, because we definitely will.

This injury to Mitch Barnett is a mark against Webster in this instance.

Did we need Barnett to play on sunday? Turned out we didn't in the end, so im sure webby will learn from this. Barnett didn't need to back up when we are going well, a little game management here should have happened.
It was an impact injury though, not fatigue related. The majority of origin players backed up, including Haas, Angus Chricton, etc

Yup it could happen anytime, but did they still need to thrash him after a huge shift when we are not as desperate as some clubs.

Yeah look i get it but you could also park the Ferrari in the garage for a week.

He only played 40 minutes in Origin, with a 5 day turnaround to the Sunday game. That sort of turnaround gets done in normal NRL.
Besides, an ACL injury isn't one that would have been induced by fatigue, it was just bad luck. If it was a hammy or calf, then you could argue backing up was the wrong thing to do.

Well im arguing that they could have rested him not that origin and the turnaround caused the injury.

Again I am not saying this was why he got injured, its more from a point of view that we didn't need to play him. Add in the hectic away schedule the warriors have had also.

I get webby loves thrashing the good ones.
