NRL Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles

The loss is DCE will be monstrous.
He would rival Cam Smith with the influence he has weilded for such a long time.
Fogarty is pretty decent only.
Can smith? I wouldn’t have dce in the same conversation.
Hes had a long career but not in the same class as smith.
Based on last years form fogarty is an upgrade.

For sure DCE is not in the same league but IMO his impact and influence for Manly for so long is as effective as Smiths at the Storm.

Hmm idk- hes a good player but I don’t think id have in my top 10 all time halfbacks for example.
Hes never been very popular with his team mates either so I'm wondering if it could actually have a positive effect on the squad.
Have to wait and see I suppose- I do a agree they need to stay fit to stay competitive.

Good luck to Foran. Despite his troubles mid-career and while with us, he has always been one of my favorite Kiwis and Manly players. He has almost a full season to learn what it takes to be a coach.

Pretty shocked Jim Dymock didn't get handed the reins.

Foran is the meat in the sandwich between pissed off fans and the Clubs ineptitude.

Picking him is a hope the supporters won't want to have a go at a club legend.

Don't do it Fozz!.....too late.....good luck bro. Manly are a pack of w*nkers in purple jerseys.

Foran annouced as interam coach for the rest of the season. Bit strange considering he only hung up the boots last season and has only been asstiant coach for 3 games.
His old man’s Greg Foran is a highly successful businessman (Walmart and air NZ CEO) and Foz has the same smarts to make a real go of it.

Honestly think he doesn’t have any experience and will struggle but if anyone can pull it off as a first season coach, he’s got as good a chance as anyone.

Foz has been a very good footy player for a very long time and I wish him and the titans all the best with this appointment

To mention his old man and smarts and Foz all in the same sentence is a bit of a stretch to be polite

It is going to be a tough gig to take over. He retired last year and only has a pre-season and 3 games as an assistant.

Yes, he's experienced as a player and familiar with a lot that happens around a team. Still, a head coach needs to do a lot of media and can miss time away from the team. As an interim coming in now, time with the team will be essential.

I've heard Jim Dymock discussed. He used to be discussed as a future NRL coach but that has died off as others have been the next big thing. Would be interesting to see why they went with Foran instead of the more experienced guy. If it is mainly as Foran is an old boy. Then they are in trouble.

Seen comments about how Manly have always been best with an ex Manly player. Sure they'd be familiar with the internal politics. But the examples used are quite a while ago, different times. The later example with Hasler I'm sure he had some coaching in the lower grades.

Foran appointed Head Coach at Manly

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are thrilled to announce Kieran Foran’s appointment to the position of Head Coach on a three-year deal through to the end of the 2029 season.

Foran has excelled in his role as interim Head Coach over the past couple of months guiding the team to seven wins from nine games and lifting the Sea Eagles to fifth place on the NRL ladder.

Although only recently retired as a player, Foran has demonstrated in a very short space of time that he is the right person for the job.

Sea Eagles Chairman Scott Penn is confident Kieran will thrive in the new role, as he has done over the past few months.

“We’ve been impressed with everything Kieran has done since taking on the interim role and are delighted to appoint him for the next three years," said Penn.

The belief and passion he has instilled in the playing group has more than delivered on our expectations.

“Kieran’s deep connection to the Club, extensive playing experience, and leadership qualities make him an outstanding choice to guide the Sea Eagles into the next chapter.

“We are focused on competing for Premierships and Kieran knows first-hand what it takes to bring the Sea Eagles continued success.”

Sea Eagles CEO Jason King says it’s an exciting day for everyone involved with the Club.

“You only need to look around to see the uplift Kieran has brought to the Club in just a matter of months – he has brought clarity to how we want to play, how we want to represent the Club and the standards we expect every day,” said King.

“He has the utmost respect from everyone associated with Manly, from our owners and directors, our players and staff, and certainly from our members and fans.

We believe Kieran is the right person to lead our team into the future, and we’re confident in the direction he is setting.

Kieran says he is inspired by the Manly community and is determined to bring success to the Northern Beaches.

“I’m truly honoured to be the head coach of a club that means so much to me, a club that has played a significant part in not just my footy career but my entire life,” said Foran.

“I care deeply about this club, and I want what's best for everyone involved in it.

I will do everything within my power to make sure it's a success.

“It's been wonderful working with this group of players over the past few months and helping them to build belief is something I have really enjoyed.

“I've been fortunate to be surrounded by some incredible staff, and they have played a significant part in the success that we've had so far.

“I feel absolutely loved and supported by all our members and fans. It makes you to want to bounce out of bed each and every morning, wanting to make our community proud.

“I believe we're capable of achieving great things this year and we will continue to work extremely hard to make sure we give ourselves every chance of achieving that.”

Foran played 196 games in two separate stints over nine seasons at Manly, winning the NRL premiership in 2011.

The final three seasons of Foran’s 17-year career were at the Gold Coast Titans, where he played his final NRL game in Round 27 last year.

Before hanging up the boots, Foran helped steer New Zealand to victory in the final of the 2025 Pacific Championships against Samoa in what would be his 34th and final Test.

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are at home against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 14 of the NRL Telstra Premiership on Thursday 4th June (Kick-off 7:50pm).

To celebrate the appointment of “Foz” as Head Coach, 4 Pines Brewing Co. is giving 4 Pines Park a one-round makeover, renaming it “Foz Pines Park” for Thursday night’s clash.
