Noitall I would take that gamble even if they make him play NSW cup a few games. This forum loves Manu - you will see procession of adoration posts if this gets legs.

I’m not so sure, Wrighty.

If he’s coming here, I want him to do a preseason. NSW cup for the rest of the year, failing injuries.

I would say if we have Manu in our cross hairs then
1) It would be us working the phone to St George offering Luke for 2026 and not vice versa
2) We could afford to give up Luke right now. We have TMM as our first drop back up and he is good enough to win NRL matches and Luke Hanson can be our 4th string option.

I was listening to Joey Johns today on Immortal Behaviour podcast and he talked a lot about the Warriors.

In his opinion he thinks Metcalf fully fit is better than Tanah even though Tanah is flying at the moment.

In finals football teams need to go up another gear and it takes one of the spine players to pull off that special play when it matters (is what he said).

That is my only concern, do we have that mercurial player in our spine who has that x-factor and can lift in the big moments (like Nathan Cleary and Reece Walsh have in the past few grand finals) because there is a big difference between the regular season and a prelim final. Maybe that could be Tanah or Healey. Metcalf when fit is probably that player.

I think we made the right choice with Tanah especially with the Rabbittohs chasing him (maybe the coaches would have wanted to wait a bit longer if not for that) but I hope Metcalf can get over not being the 7 and maybe be a part of the team later in the year. And if something happens to Tanah we will need Luke to be mentally all in and not offside with the rest of the players. I think long-term if Metcalf was willing to play 6 and put his all into it, him and Tanah would have killed it but that's life. Before this season started my long-term hope was for Luke at 6 and Jett at 7 but that would never have happened anyway with Luke not willing to play 6.

CHT has been impressive as well and deserves to keep his spot in the current team. He also offers something different.

I agree about Manu being a good buy and he could be great as a full back or centre.

TMM has not proven to be a good starting half when it matters. As a 14 sure but not as a starting half. We won't be winning any premiership if that happens. Hanson would be better as a specialist 6 for this season if injury strikes CHT and Luke is gone. And if Luke leaves and Tanah goes down, Jett is going to be better as a specialist 7 than TMM even as raw as he is at the moment as long as it is not too close to the finals and he has time to adjust.

If we end up with a CHT/TMM halves combo for the finals we are f***d.

We need Luke onboard the rest of this season if his head is right.

Absolutely our best chance of winning the comp would to have a fit and dedicated LM on the field
We can still get it done without him but the jobs gotten a bit harder.

Personally, I feel Luke Metcalf shouldn't be able to wear the jersey again. After everything the team did for him, from the best rehab in NYC to the keys to the team, this is how he repays the organisation. No respect for his teammates, no willingness to fight for his jersey,If TB or CHT go down, put someone out there who actually wants to play for the team, not just themselves, They say there is no "I" in team but seems like Luke has found the "M" and the"E"
Been thinking about this and maybe Luke and his wife have something else - The Thing - that makes Luke want to leave and normally the "I wanna play 7 and Webby's making me play 6!" complaint is something Luke would work with until his contract's end (or a season's end, where as a fan you'd go "fair enough"), but The Thing has happened and because - and fair enough -Luke doesn't want to talk about The Thing, Luke's I'm Not a 7 Woe Is Me is the most public reason why Luke would want to leave, so that's what the public are being told...

Just to be fair on him and us.

And, quite rightly, Luke doesn't want to talk about The Thing...

Just use compassionate release citing needing family support for toddler and most will support him, instead of even having webby “disappointed” and being a circus clown for a week, iMO it’s pretty occam’s razor here
