I didn’t call you a moron, I’m assuming you agree he played very well but disagree on resigning due to the injury. However if you don’t think he played great then perhaps you should take my post as a personal insult.
Look man I feel like you are. But anyways, this is a great debate because this is going to have a huge impact on the club for the next two seasons.

I stand by what im saying. I dont trust his body, I question giving him the keys at the start of the season, and the club made an astute signing bringing in boyd as cover.

I have on doubt they saw this scenario play out.

For the record I don’t think you are even remotely in the realms of moron status. Anyway moving on, I’d argue that without Metcalf we wouldn’t even be in the top 8 right now. We’ve had a lot of close games where he was instrumental in getting us the win. So without him this year would possibly be another middling to disappointing season. Next year I think we get him back early enough however the problem for a few months at least will be his agility, speed off the mark, etc. However beyond that I expect he’d get back to full fitness & be a far greater halves asset than anyone else in our squad.

Might be worth noting Sam Walker, similar body type & position, made his comeback in reserve grade 9 months & 1 week after his ACL rupture last season. He was selected to play first grade the next game after that however then broke his thumb. So just to repeat myself, the same timeframe would have Metcalf back in early April with maybe 1-2 games Reserve grade & then back in first grade after that. Listening to NRL physio, a possible complication could be a rod in Metcalf’s leg from when he broke his tibia last season, however otherwise I reckon he’s hopefully back pretty early next year.

Does anyone know if he played with no ACL after the 2019 rupture, or he had a reconstruction with graft and that was ruptured?? Is it even the same leg? Lots of implications here

Maybe top 8?

I cant see a world where the club can offer metclaf another deal, I think the club needs to invest that money into boyd.

The club cant risk it with metcalf anymore. So unfortunate for him but he's not worth a long term big money deal, and probably never was really.

I think this is a blessing for the club, who was about to pull the trigger on a big deal.

Sorry but he's never once in his career put a full season together.

Time to move on from metcalf.
woah, roughest take i think i've ever seen on this forum... I really feel for Luke, he was getting somewhere, in our system and right along side our other soldiers - we were getting there, it was promised - he's going to be here next year, with our rookies one more year experienced, tougher and taking back was was starting to be promised after the sharks game - the loyalty will pay off

Now that it's happened a second time (along with the leg break) there is definitely reason for concern about his recovery, but going into this season he did all the rehab needed, was looking great fitness wise for the first 15 rounds and was even talked up as an Origin bolter a couple of weeks ago form wise so it's understandable why he was chosen as SJ's successor. In the modern game the only half that has been miraculously unscathed is DCE, otherwise it's been a stacked casualty ward.

I hope players don’t follow these sort of forums!

We’re here to ride the roller coaster, good, bad otherwise and be emotional sometimes and analytical others.

End of the day I think everyone backs our players and really feels sorry for Metcalf and what he is going through.
