Delusional. Bet you thought he lit it up last time at 7 as well right?
You can’t be serious? He was deemed the form 7 of the competition in his games at 7 when he got the chance. His try assists were through the roof at 6 and 7. Went back and has got accustomed to every position Webster has wanted him to play off the bench like hooker and lock when called upon. Even CHT rates him as the most skilful in the team

I recall bounce passes and no structure. A great 6 but not a 7. While Metcalf is not an ideal 7 he is still a middle ground of Boyd and Martin

Haven't looked in here for a while coz I am thoroughly sick of it.

Shouldn't have peeped then....LOL

It is up to him means we are washing our hands of the responsibility for his non appearance (in other words he is having a sook).

Good.

Clarified.

He is refusing at this stage to play cup then. Till he is ready haha I wonder how long the second please explain took "Read the room when you are available for cup you want to come back" (luke walks out and goes home to watch last years highlights reel).
I agree this seems like the most likely scenario based on what club folk are saying.

If he refuses to play cup, what are the clubs options?

It was structure that got us those wins with him at 7 partnered with CHT against panthers and CNK at 6 against dolphins with mass injuries. Boyd has done well digging into the line this year but TMM and CHT are our most direct runners in the halves. I wouldn’t be surprised if Metcalf has lost a lot of respect in the playing group based on his demands

I haven't seen any of the statements/news today.

Does "up to him" just mean that he has got to get out on the footy field (Cup), show he is focused and ready to do the job in FG? It doesn't necessarily mean that there is any attitude issues associated, just that it's time to show he is better than anyone else gunning for the role at the moment. If I am Webby, that is the respectful message to be issuing in public in regards to TMM.

I have no idea, just offering another perspective.

Mets is egocentric. No one else in the universe. Decided 7 is the gig as that is the main commanding position on the paddock, but does he have the skillset and mentality to be first class 7?

Not sure, and especially with our game model it will be hard for him to fit in (plus he never got a preseason)

IMO. best to let him go early and move on.

My greatest fear is the disharmony that may occur if he is dropped back into the 1st grade side. The presser after the Bronx match and JFH's body language said it all to me.

To be fair JFH tends to do that in a lot of pressers I have seen, he is a fidgeter. I'm not personally reading into that particular moment as meaning too much.

And even if it did coincide with what was being said, it could have been the awkwardness of the situation that caused his reaction rather than a sign of discontent.

The brilliant thing about this club is that everything is so in-house that fan theories are pure conjecture.

I think everything will become a lot clearer in the Panthers game week. I'd expect to see Luke on a Warriors team sheet.

Was big on the theatrics in his try scoring celebrations

I find it crazy a player with less than 50 games returning from injury can refuse to play cup, either this is incorrect or this is…crazy 😂
Or maybe his medical at the Dragons, while passing the Dragons expectations for a contract, was so borderline that the Dragons are shit-scared Metcalf will break something if he plays NRL or even NSW Cup, so it's either no league or Fox??

This is a tough one. When it comes down to it TMM is not a 7 and in my opinion (not stating a fact) he is not good enough when it comes down to the business end of the season. And that has been proven in the past.

A lot of people jump on the hype train after one game. Let's see how he goes over the next 4-5 games and make a judgement then.

His lack of a long kicking game is his biggest downfall. CHT can make up for it somewhat but not enough. Wait till we are playing a game in the pouring rain and cold when territory becomes more important and see how that goes. Our halves are very lucky to be playing behind the pack we have.

TMM is a 6 plain and simple. I think the wheels will fall off at some point with him at 7. I hope Metcalf can get over himself and prove he deserves to be our 7 as that is the only way we are winning a premiership this year. I 100% hope I am wrong but that is just what I think.

I see him as a super sub in a full strength team and I would prefer we focus on the gun halves we have coming through the grades in the next couple of years.
