I'm just pleased that it's nearly June and we haven't started the traditional "have we still got a mathematical chance of making the Top 8" thread yet

we were 6:6 in 2023 and 6:1:6 in 2024 before the fate diverged between those 2 seasons.

We're 8:2 this year, big games over the next month to determine if we're set up for a top 4 or minor premiership run (yes seriously). Pessimistic take is we'll scrap into the top 8 at worst

This season has had so many crazy results so far that only 6 of the 17 teams currently have more wins than losses.

9 Knights (Doomed to be 9th every year)

15 West Tigers (Improved due to signings)

17 Warriors (First spoon for club - we will our fair share of games but next years NRL will be a higher level than this year)

I suspect that we will be the ones to mathematically end their hopes when they come to Mt Smart after the Perth Origin match.

Absolute mental season to predict. Aside from us, Raiders and Doggies everyone has been massively up and down.

I reckon teams 7-12 wil probably only end up with around 10 or 11 wins, which is pretty mad to make the 8

And those 3 got a 30+ points belting in one half, I think the raiders got scarred the worst, storm away - meh, Broncos at suncorp - meh, dogs at home with a 20:0 lead in front of the biggest crowd of the decade

pretty crazy to think that we are one of only 3 teams this season that haven't been on a losing streak (2 consecutive losses in a row or more). A wahs win is one of the safest weekly bets this year. Incredible time to be alive.

The team has backed up from their two losses with improved performances.

Turning around losses shows they are taking onboard the issues from the loss. Also helps with the competition ladder as your not missing out on two points for multiple weeks.

Let's hope it continues through the season.

Don't want to jinx it, but law of averages says we will eventually lose at some pt. Hopefully it doesn't happen this week, but if it does nothing really changes for us thanks to the buffer we have created between us and the rest of the comp. We would still be tied 2nd, 2 pts above 4th and 4 pts above 5th. With JFH and Barney back next week, we'd be primed for a bounce back against the Rabbits and Sharks who seem beatable on current form. I believe we can win today, but if we don't, it's not the end of the world.

We could be leading the comp this time next week. Let's assume Rabbitohs beat Raiders and Eels beat dogs on Monday. Let's also assume that Rabbitohs beat Dogs next week in an origin impacted clash. Then we'd overtake the dogs and Canberra for outright first.
