General Jersey Flegg 2025

That was a fine come back win by our lot.

Genuinely promising after what sounds like a poo start. I came in while we were running them down so missed all our crap....having said that what was clear to me watching us chase the scoreboard and the clock is that we tightened our defence and locked the game down....even thought the Rabbits were throwing plenty of shape at us.
We led 12-6 at halftime, bombed a few late chances. Noticed big difference when JSS and a few other starters were off the field. Both our centres were quiet today, both been on fire the last month. Norris from the NT.

Has anyone been following Capper? He seemed to be a villain for the ball team but seems to be going well in flegg.
Not really following, but got the vibe he was trying too hard to make things happen in Ball. Maybe he didn't handle the captaincy well. But he seemed to go better at second row than centre, perhaps because it allowed him to simplify his game? He is probably a small cog in the Flegg team, so only has to focus on his own role. Hopefully he can kick on, he's clearly got some skill.

Some thoughts after watching the game,

- Great job recruiting Brandon Norris. Didn't think much of him at first because usually kids recruited from Australia into pathways this late in their development aren't really sought after prospects. But he is a genuine talent. He's looked our most dangerous player the last month or so. Constant linebreak threat. He should do first grade preseason this year and move up to NSW cup. I think we could see him on the wing in first grade in next couple of years. He has speed, which we lack in our pathways.

- Jack Thompson is starting to get more confident and looking like his old self, starting to take the line on way more. Jospeh Ratcliffe reminds me so much of Wade McKinnon, just always there in support. Those two will be way better for this Flegg season and should dominate SG ball next year.
- Starting to be less and less impressed by Harry Durbin. I guess the club loves him because he does the 1%ers well and defends well. Could turn out similar to TSS in a best case scenario but not really seeing a whole lot of upside. I guess you need these kind of players at your club though.

- Kahu Capper has looked a lot better in Flegg than he did in SG ball. Simplified role and not trying to be hero has done wonders for him. He's actually a pretty safe player when he's not given too long of a leash.

- First time in a while had two 120kg+ starting proprs in Rodney Tuipulotu Vea and Tepatasi Laumalili. Rodney has some silky passing skills. Hopefully they can develop and improve their motors.

Tepatasi Laumaliili has played most of his junior career in the second row similarly to Tuipolotu-Vea. To go alongside with his size he’s also got a lot of athleticism. He is also younger than both Durbin & Tuipolotu-Vea & eligible for Ball next year
He was Year 13 last year. How’s he eligible for Ball next year?

Yeah he’s kinda come out of nowhere hasn’t made many rep squads. Which is pretty impressive that he’s played 2 grades this year considering how much depth we have in the forwards
