So just sorting out the trials. Does the game and result add to players stats?

Obviously there’s an injury risk. So I’ve set defence to least aggressive. Should we stack it with reserves or does playing top players add to their experience or form in any beneficial way? Same as does the win matter at all so is there any incentive to have higher player aggression?

Well if you think props score points for you...

You need balance.
I’ll add a total of $300k cash.

He’s my captain mate. He keeps AFB on the right path so is pretty vital. Hitro’s a big step down.

Im pretty certain the trials dont add to player stats.

And to be honest i can recall if the trials impact fitness and form. I would suggest that they do. Ill confirm later tonight.

Ive never seen teams win games with a 0-0 scoreline.

If i didnt consider balance, do you think i would be looking at a trade involving the best rated outside back in the game?
In the real game some positions are more important than others in regards to salary cap as their impact on the game is propositional.

Is that the same in this game - eg a halfback is the most importantly influencer in wins down to wingers having the least influence? Or is it straight every player is equal?

Asking Tahjay the game designer not the game competition 🤣

You only valued the best outside back in the game at $450k.

The best outside back is worth less than an average forward (judging by your own valuation) 😉

Spine members are most important. They touch the ball more and as such have a higher impact on the variables.

Other players are equally important, but it really comes down to who are in their chain. Ie in attack if you have a halfback predominantly on the right...he looks to setup a play on that side, will the second rower provide options or line running or take the line on and pop the ball back, centre who will draw the opposition and create space and then onto the winger who has the ability to get on the outside and score.

Obviously the leadup play comes into the equation.

A star player on his own cant do everything. Needs the BALANCE for it to all work. And then you have other factors ie Stacey is more consistent than SJ for example, but SJ is more dynamic. And also taking into account the opposition players and their fatigue, ability, how much they are in disarray etc from prior play etc.

I obviously wanted him but i knew there was more competition on some players i needed more urgently ie fb and 5/8. 5/8 in particular i knew would have the most competition as quite a few teams going for maloney whereas dictators seemed to be staying back and keeping their cap in later rounds for big play on a fb. I was half expecting dictators to put their whole cap on webb but there were opp for them to upgrade their players in other positions too.

I think itll be interesting to see what strategies ppl used for bidding. I stayed back from round 4-6 on purpose and tried to pickup players who werent the top but an upgrade, and made a hitlist of teams with what their critical gaps were, what their upgrade paths were and what their salary cap positions was per round to try to bid per demand v supply. And also scatter some bids on top 8/16 players per pos (starting) as well as creating depth per position. Stacey Jones coming up first in the Auction probably inflated everything.

I did like how Dictators picked up two of the very best centres for decent price but w stacey as well, their cap position was hamstrung early on. This is very different to how mr brownstone plays in other fantasy games and usually more conservative early on.

You on the other hand usually have a gung ho approach but were the opposite so some of my own plans on how each team was going to bid esp early on went out the window lol

I do think that there are some very overpriced players though. Overpaying is ok if you are know you will stick w them through the season and they are not for trading. But they make overpaid players very hard to trade esp with salary cap constraints and if others do not have space.

The lack of halfbacks forced me to change my strategy & I figured that as soon as I bid Stacey up then all halfbacks would go up by relatively similar. It did force me to be quite conservative for the rest of the auction process & while I was tempted to bid big for Webb I was also really keen to have cap to play with when the new players come up for bidding. In saying that I thought you would hold more cap for that as well & therefore thought I’d prob bid enough for Webb

Confirming that for preseason trials:
- Morale, Form and Fitness will be impacted
- Players can get injured and suspended.
- Player stats do not get counted as part of overall season ie Dally M, Season Stats, Player Stats.

I also see some people have started doing press conferences. If you havent yet, do so. You can do one each week.

You can get rep and morale boosts from doing that.

You can also submit your game plan for the trial, ie select team, captain, kickers, tactics etc.

Training will open up when season starts.

@tajhay is player in jersey #2 outside of the Centre in #3 and on the right side? Also, mentioned above, is the Halfback assumed to be part of the chain on the right?

I actually double checked. It looks like i did not fully implement this properly. (ARGGH).

RIght now it doesnt look like it checks which centre (3 or 4) is more likely to pass to player in say jersey 2. It takes the average of both players. So you may see in the match commentary that centres on either side are passing to the player on the opposite side. It is doing the same with the halfbacks and five eighth where they are simmed to be on either side currently and the average taken.

I will try to get this this resolved along with other tuning as we go along the season. I will inform when this is done.
