Player Jett Cleary

~Navigator~

I looked and searched his name but didn't come up with him as a player....lol
But here's something in the news today.
From the article: ‘the Warriors' reserve-grade team will be eyeing the NSW Cup record of 13-straight wins set by Parramatta in 2005 and Cronulla in 2013.’

Parramattas NRL team were minor premiers in 2005 and the Sharks won the title in 2016.

That lower success drives results in the top grade. Exciting looking forward to the next few years!

Jett looks the goods. A halves combo of Metcalf and Cleary is a dream scenario for us in the near future.

Webby would have a plan on when to introduce Jett to first grade. He is making every post a winner so far and seems set on playing for the Warriors, especially while Nathan is still at Penrith.

I hope we can lock him up long-term when the time comes. Not one we want to slip away at all.

The way our season is going, pretty sure he will get a crack at first grade before the season is out. Also hopeful Stacey includes him in the Kiwis at the end of the year in the Pacific Cup.

He won't.

He's not on a development contract until next year.

TMM will get a shot this year before Jett.

If TMM is out and Luke Hanson is not back from injury yet, they would do a reshuffle i.e. Taine or Egan to halves.

NSW cup was a massive step up for him (which he's handling well) but absolutely zero chance he gets handed a first grade debut this year.

But try to lock him into the kiwis!

Jett is 20 to be fair, he's not a 18 year old kid. Injuries have held him back a little, I think if he can get a full pre season in next year, I can't see why he couldn't debut next season via injuries and push to be our 3rd choice half by seasons end. His highlight reel is already looking nice, but it will be the game management and physical side week in week out against men he will need to develop. You never know, if he looks a million bucks this off season he can easily be upgraded to top 30.

He scored 127 fantasy points this weekend, to put that in perspective, that would be the highest NRL score by any player all year. Crazy stuff.

This year he's 0 chance of playing.

I agree, full preseason, 3rd option as we are expecting to lose TMM. To be fair, I would rather invest time and opportunities in Jett (in 2026) than handing more games to Boyd. I just think we should be investing in the future with Jett.

Cleary to represent Ukraine https://www.nrl.com/news/2025/09/28...an-play-too-jett-cleary-to-represent-ukraine/

Pretty cool story.

My biggest takeaway is how Cleary's cousin (The Death boy, Phoenix) looks just like his dad Jason!
Beautiful way to honour your nan Jett. The Cleary and Death clans are a strong part of the fabric of Wahs history, Jason was our best player one dark year when we were a clueless defeated rabble.
Incredible to hear they're still playing league during the war, hope the Cleary defections make them a new tier 2 powerhouse. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦

I would love to know what the plan is with Jet because to me he is our number 1 signing priority.

We can build a team around this guy for the next 10+ years.

The things i am curious about are.

1. Does Jett intend to stay here or go back to Penrith when Nathan moves on. If he does want to go back does Webby already know this.
2. When does Webby plan to start introducing him into first grade becauss he looks almost ready to me
3. If we re-sign Tanah and even CHT what effect will that have on Jett, Hanson and co knowing there is no way into first grade without several injuries happening.

Over the next 12 months i can see plenty of clubs throwing money at him.

I haven't seen very much of this guy and the reports have been varied
In your opinion is he close enough for a crack at fg nrl even occasionally off the bench

I can only judge on the games I have seen him play this year and last year. I think he is close enough to debut this year. There are a lot of other clubs that would already have picked him to start. I am glad we are not throwing him in early but the time is coming near.

And we aren't going to know for sure until he has 5 or 6 first grade games under his belt but he is the most promising junior half I have seen at the club post SJ playing first grade.

Does he has rough edges, yes. But all young players do and they work that out in first grade in their first couple of years. Think Reece Walsh for example, when he played for us you could see how good he would be but he made plenty of mistakes starting out. That doesnt mean we dont pick him and keep him in NSW cup because the level is lower and he wont fully develop until he plays some first grade. If we surround Jet with experience, he will find his feet.

I remember seeing him picked as 19th man earlier in the season so they must think he is getting close. Then Hansen ended up getting the 6 jumper for 1 game and did well which maybe tells me they see Jett as a 7 only.
