If you watched that last 20 minutes we lost the arm wrestle AND our kicking couldn’t get us out. TMM performs well when the other pack gets dominated by ours. We need to get Metcalf back into the team even though I hate him for packing a sad.

NSW cup stats have Metcalf making 7 tackles, 6 missed, 1 ineffective for a 50% tackle efficiency. That will have to improve significantly if he wants to play first grade or we will end up with the results earlier this year against the Sharks and Tigers. A longer kicking game isn't going to make up for it.

TMM is not the problem, he was our only solution vs the storm.

We ain’t winning against the top teams with CHT at 6, his playmaking and kicking is very limited.

Yea but at least he has a long kicking game and his speed will make us a threat.

We had a 38% win rate against playoff teams before he got injured. Many stars needed to align for us to even get past Week 2 of the playoffs

I must have watched a different last 20 to you. We were right in it and had three opportunities to score - one was TMM ran it on the last and Laban was denied by a great tackle (and a lack of support) another was a knock on from Ford but the try would have been scored by TMM. The third time TMM put TT to the outside of his man and he couldn't deliver the final pass.
So the player you are saying was not good in the last 20 was involved in every one of our try scoring opportunities.

I know your point was about the arm wrestle, but it wasn't true that we lost the arm wrestle in the last 20. That last 20 was end to end with both teams having lots of opportunities. I also have concerns about our kicking game with Martin as a long term 7, but if you interpreted that last 20 as TMM struggling behind a dominated pack that was a narrative you bought into the game it wasn't what actually happened.

I think it has to be remembered that TMM would have only had 2 full training sessions where he would have been training exclusively as a half as hes obviously been a bit of a mister fix it...surely once the the boys around him have had a few games and trianing to gel we'll get better cohesion, and better performances?

Although...im going to play devils advocate...if Healey is out for the next few games and potentially missing Egan for Origin i think the next few rounds we probably look better with option A...

You bring up an interesting point. If Egan does get selected over api (100% should but even tho he had 55 tackles with 0 misses or ineffectives that game, they just seem to turn a blind eye to him). Then you'd have to see either TMM, CHT or even Clark called back to cover hooker for that game. There is no way we play a debutant Tafua hooker for the full 80 mins. So could even see Hanson come on at 6 or Jett debut at 7, if they don't think metcalf is up to par.

TMM's running game is magnificent, and again quite different from Boyd's and Metcalf's - it has angle, but looks to make room for inside and outside runners, whereas Boyd straightens everything up and Metcalf sort of drifts across looking for a one on one ... it's the kicking that's the problem, otherwise i'd be all in on TMM.

It will be an interesting call - Metcalf will be in the game day squad, I don't think that will be in doubt, and will get minutes at some point i reckon ... can't afford not to if we want options down the track this year
