Don’t know why but all this hype reminds me of Josh Schuster… no idea what he’s doing now

Well the cool thing is we get to find out!

Cassius Tia has played pre-season trials too - went up against the tigers last year from memory.

Outside of watching him live. What his peers say about him (Salesi Foketi at Roosters said he is the best talent he has seen or played with and that he could be anything) and the fan disappointment at the Bulldogs. I think the weight of literal video evidence is pretty clear. There is reel after reel after reel of Tia wrecking defenses. He has an elite passing game, incredible vision and awareness to set up his insides and outsides. He shreds defenders. Great kicking game and he is all CLUTCH.

I mean, after having some off field issues, Tia got shifted from halves to centre and made the NSW cup team of year!! The dude can play... and better than most others.

Not saying Jack Thompson is not a fantastic talent because he is. He makes me think very much of a DCE. He is going good!

It;s just, for me, Tia's celling is higher because of his gifts. This week alone...which players are playing NSW cup and which ones are playing Jersey Flegg?

At the end of the day I rate them all. None of them are poor players.

I have had time to watch the highlights and think. There are so many it is easy to just go 'ok that was good' and on comes another play.

I think what I see from the clips is a player that for his age has the awareness and confidence of young Stacey Jones (Jones was 18 when he took the reigns of the Warriors and Kiwis).

He has the precocious confidence that comes with being a child prodigy (and as such you hope that translates into Adulthood - in academic terms that means coping with not being the smartest kid in school anymore - in the NRL that looks like not being an automatic pick for NRL till you do the boring bits and bide your time while potentially someone not as good as you holds the starting Jersey or that bench spot because they have earned the right).

But yeah, he reminds me of the cockiness that Stacey Jones the teenage freak had.

Unlike Stacey, this bloke is a tough mean looking little block of wood. He has Monty Betham crazy eyes and a similar bearing - he is confrontational on the ball, you can see he likes contact.

NZ has not had a young half come along that would kick drop goals and 40/20s and in that regard he is like Jahrome Hughes, a tactical ball playing, well rounded genuine playmaker and organizer.

He has a nice running game, he might not be Shaun Johnson in that regard, but the Warriors have plenty of high speed halves in Linane and of course Metcalf - but this bloke is no slouch so he will cut teams up as he is already when in FG.

I think his natural instincts, his eyes up ability, the vision, and most of all the confident calm set him apart from anything we have here when you put that in a hard tough package like that, he would be an amazing Six off Metcalf or vice versa.

The Warriors won't mess his development up our NSW cup coach is great, our overall system is proven class at bringing on young talent, and Webster is very careful and deliberate.

The issue will be if young Cassius can bide his time - I wonder if the petulant acting up of youth when you are 'too talented' for you own good is the Dogs let him go, maybe he wanted.....like Reece Walsh did...the keys now not later....and well we helped Reece on his way eh so there is that, and of course after his dummy spit at the Broncos young Reece went back to the Mother ship and they of course had to eat humble pie and pick him for FG now not later.

Pretty sure he’s been training with Mt Albert topside since returning to Auckland over the summer. Interesting that the club has brought in a couple of recruits in last week or so. QCup prop as well. Guessing the coaching staff wanting some more experience after we released alot of our “Senior Pro’s” this offseason.

I’ve seen Casias play since he was 10-11 yrs old and always stood out. Once Fish, Charnze, RTS, Barney, etc etc get into his ear, he’s got the potential to be absolutely elite.

And what also he is, he’s home grown. We’ve been crying out for a while now who our next NZ grown 1/2 will be. This could be our chance. Linane, Thompson, Cleary, Metcalf who are currently our future, are all Australian and will all eventually head back home at some stage. We’re kidding ourselves if we think that’s not gonna happen. I actually a bit excited as to what this signed could be. I wish him best of luck

A lot of glazing going on in this thread. Also a lot of wild speculation too.

No one knows definitively why he left or was released by the club. He may have been part of an underground child trafficking ring selling blood to the worlds elites, he may have missed his targets for the Doggies or he may have just missed his mothers cooking. We dont know.

If he really was the love child of JT he would have debuted already. He's obviously got some serious deficiencies in his game or the Bulldogs would have overlooked his blood selling side hustle or moved his mother over to cook for him. There is no position that holds more currency in the game than that of a halfback and clubs have done a lot worse to hold onto a genuine game breaker.

The hype being built up here reminds me of the mania surrounding the signing of Harry Siejka and how he was going to moonwalk into the team and instantly dethrone Thomas Leuluai lol. I promise you all right now that Cassius Tia will not be replacing a fit Chanel Harris-Tavita. Not anytime soon. They aren't even in the same weight class despite how poorly some people view CHT. Cassius maybe a NSW Cup star but put CHT against him and watch CHT run rings around him and the whole team all game. Reality is CHT is a now a seasoned NRL level player four games away from his 100th match. Cassius has potential but potential means you could maybe do it but havent done it yet. This is the difference between potential and reality. This is the difference between Chanel and Cassius.

How about we let the guy come here, develop and prove himself before hailing him the second coming of Christ. Lets not forget they crucified the first fella...

Agree with all of it, but you’re forgetting we don’t have a 6 signed for next year.

I'm trying to recall Harry or CHT kicking drop goals or 40/20s in the Juniors.

Scorpion kicks is what I remember
Same, amaze balls eh. But CHT never had the confidence to keep that type of take risks style of footy in the big leagues....maybe Cassius if ever he gets a shot would go into his shell too.....you just don't know. I am pleased people are excited, we don't get much of that compared to other clubs fans, dunno why people would want to check others having fun, being happy, getting over excited.

It is kind of crazy how many people on this forum refused to believe that CHT would eventually become an NRL starting calibre half back in 2020/2021.

Kid was absolutely gun in NYC and was learning game management in the most difficult environment; a losing first grade side.

I remember getting into so many arguments on this forum about it but I didn't have anything to point at as evidence other than "potential, potential blah blah blah". He's taken an unorthodox route to get there but glad he's slowly delivering on that promise he showed in NYC first when he was 17 years old.

A bunch of our potential awesome fellas played in losing Warriors teams. Chitty is an example of perseverance and maturity now. And yeah he has the personalised hand shakes down.

Well CHT took forever to get there but Webby turned him around big time and if he maintains anything close to R1 form then he's gonna in the conversation for Dally M five-eighth of the year, so ya it'll be a brain explosion to not extend him a home grown product as well. I mean we're talking about potential stocks and actual good stocks here, you've got to keep the actual before you punt on others

You know that excitement turns into people getting too carried away and ranting and sniping at each other when the player does not go round winning games single handedly.

Webby don’t select his players on skill anyway, its all hard workers, how hard is this cat able to work?
