Social Brisbanes Cyclone Alfred

To my Fellow Brisbane & Gold Coast based Warrior Family,
Please stay safe out there,
I have never been thru a cyclone event so in one way I'm looking forward to it, but as a home owner I'm worried...lol
Anyway just stay safe and hopefully you all make it thru this event unscathed.
Below is a link from the ABC giving live updates.

How frequently does Queensland get cyclones?

Don’t you have massive flooding every other year? Wasn’t there a massive storm about a month ago?

Batten down the hatches and look after yourselves.

Qld gets cyclone's just about every year but it hasn't come this far south in 50 years,
We get massive storms that dump upto 1000mm of rain and causes flooding but this is different as the intensity of the winds is going to cause massive damage.
And yep a couple of months ago we had a huge storm.

We had a big flood in 2011 but our most recent was 2022
Between February 23 and 28, the Brisbane area received 400–1100 mm of rain
The Brisbane River peaked at 3.85 meters at the Brisbane City Gauge on February 28
The flood affected more suburbs and properties than the 2011 flood

Some people I know were on a cruise a month ago that left Sydney, was supposed to go Queensland then over to Fiji. They got turned around halfway up the coast because of the Storm and the whole tropical part was cancelled.

They went to Hobart, froze then went back to Sydney.

And to top it off they got covid on the ship 🤯

Yeah I was thinking of 2011 .(How time flies). That was FN huge .Ships breaking loose in the Brisbane River but very little damage on the GC from memory.
Got some mates in Broady & one has a high rise unit facing the East so worried about windows & doors .
His biggest worry though is the power & wifi. He has a handicapped grandson who life revolves around his i-pad.

Hard to believe there is a cyclone on our doorstep, it was the nicest, sunniest morning here in Brisbane! Stay safe all.
Winds been steadily picking up on the Gc rain most of day light/ med
The weaker trees like hoop pines are losing crap all over the road from the wind
It’s a long way off Wellington level yet as this cyclone has slowed to 7 km hr not due to land till sat morning
Reckon it’s going to hit Wellington point with its centre but no science behind it
