I’ve mentioned it for years that I don’t believe the opposition format of politics serves anyone well and in my view nothing but a fallacy for us voters to believe either is going to something different. We get a token gesture of a vote and think change is possible while the system only responds to money and power and strongly gone back to that way. We’ve never truly had democracy because we as public get one vote to trust a person and party to do right by us when we’ve all got our own individual needsI think it’s deeper than that.
NZ is fundamentally broken (not in a MT8 way) where our standard of living has been slipping for 20 years under multiple govt. It’s been glossed over by rampant immigration under many govts.
Key hid it with mass immigration. Ardern/ Robertson hid it by borrowing heaps. It’s just becoming more obvious now.
Changing govt won’t help (unless we borrow massively again and dig a deeper hole).
This is so obvious travelling where countries we used to look down on have overtaken us. We’re a retirement village economy.
Whatever govt wins the futures pretty grim where big moves can’t be made without becoming unpopular. Many underlying long term issues are being worked on (immigration, housing prices, move away from services to productive economy) and Luxons going to pay for it because we as a country can’t handle what needs to be done.
Democracy appears broken when MPs just paper over cracks and stay popular for as long as possible while the house burns…

Well said RickAlong with a decline in personal standards, responsibility and accountability.
Very noticeable in the current crop of politicians
Unbelievable at times the disregard and disdain they show for the people who put them there

Iran doesn't actually need to launch as many missiles/drones as they did in the initial days of this war.I was excited when I saw the notification from you, thought you managed to track down the real missile numbers... Whats wrong? Cant reach anyone at the Iranian Dept of Defence?
More hypocrisy, deflection and denial.Because authorities have already decided there’s nothing to prosecute him with and it’s all a big blackmailing ring.
Trial by social media helps nobody.
Nows the time to be upset abouttariffs, invading greenland, ICE, Epstein files, Iran
