Current Affairs 2026 Iran War

Look at the fundamentalist Christians on the right and the far right, trump's home base.

Fundamentalist regimes are built on rejecting democratic principles. Call me if the republicans ever remove the election process.

As are the foundations of Israel

This is an overly reductive summary of a global reaction to the Holocaust and Western fear of soviet influence in the Middle East.

Israel became a democracy as soon as it was established in 1948. Before that it was a mandated territory, under British control.

Trump's regime is doing this right now. In front of everyone

Think maga might go through some rocky points over this attack. The god squad is sold and believes he’s the chosen one so he can do anything in their eyes, but cracks are forming

The reading I've done on Iran suggests that the majority of the population in country were reasonably ok with the regime until the corruption (the guard in particular) and the economic situation began to really affect them. They've been under pretty heavy sanctions for a long time.

We all go on about the oil but it appears for Iranians, Water was the start of the dissent.

They had a kick off when that lady was killed for not wearing her hajib too. They are a largely young population and seem progressive

Well rejecting democratic principles for one. Happening in real time

What principles have you got for me? I'll preface this by saying that I can definitely see that he's a 'loophole jumper' (pretty standard for politics), but I'd be interested in your thoughts on what principles have been rejected.

I knew a bit about collapsing domes in the O&G industry as it takes millions of years for oil to permeate through the strata once you draw out large volumes quickly.

This is what happened (along with a bad ass drought) to their water supply especially in Teheran. Over use of groundwater for unsustainable agriculture (possibly due to sanctions) and boom the aquifer collapses. Then no matter how hard it rains, there's no underground storage and all you get are flash floods.

I'll see if I can find the article.

And to stay on thread, this is not a War (yet) Limited Action in Services Lingo.

I hope Trump and Netanyahu don't plan on levelling Iran in the fashion Gaza was destroyed.

Seems to be headed that way. Iran won't back down so it is hard to imagine anything less than mass destruction of Iran from here.

For the longest time Iran has been seen as a too hard target especially all the fear of their network of proxy's and supposed massive stockpiles of missiles and drones.

Israel exposed the proxy myth by destroying Hamas then Hezbollah in Lebanon and hit various other proxy's leaving the question how dangerous is Iran?

Well they just assassinated the untouchables and clearly back themselves and the US to destroy anything Iran now can throw at them.

We certainly will know if Iran has Nuclear capability hidden, they will Nuke Israel eh and the US fleet.

This is the crux of it. There's been a fair whack of loop holes in the 'War Powers Resolution' that have been jumped through by presidents of the past.

Clinton continued strikes passed the mandatory 60-day period in Kosovo, ignoring a house vote that was called to stop it after that period of presidential immunity.

Obama argued that drone strikes and logistics supports weren't considered as 'hostile', as US troops weren't the ones being shot at.

Reagan, both Bush's, Biden; all authorised military action through selective interpretation of the WPR.
