The Strait of Hormuz is open to vessels paying in Chinese yuan, big threat to the petro-dollar so the US bomb the biggest gas field in the Middle East and Iran retaliates bombing refineries. The US and Israel keep escalating so Iran keeps retaliation, that's a whole lot of damage to the world supply of energy that won't magically be fixed in a week after the war has ended..

Shale oil production closed down when the price got to low. I believe other production will come onboard and ramp up in time (eg over months) to compensate for the loss of current supply.
