Systematic is a strong word here. It was an observed practice.Thatβs a serious claim. Do you have a source for it?
Iβm not aware of any credible evidence that Aboriginal societies practiced systematic killing and eating of foetuses.
Well, first, you deleted the previous link, good idea, it looked dodgy as fuck. There contemporary reports as well

And are you seriously pulling two frankly unverifiable newspaper archives, one from an alias?
Desperate and hilarious.
Wait, Iβm meant to pretend that they didnβt? I guess you pretend your kids arenβt getting bashed. Not my style thoughThe guy who was wanking on about starting a business that would benefit indigenous people - wanking on about Aboriginals eating foetuses.
Should be a great business that will go really well.
I had a look at those sources and from what I can see, the Thomas paper records and interprets alleged infanticide from settler observations rather than something widespread and normal in aboriginal culture. There contemporary reports as well

Well, you're not even close to the second sentence, or the first.Aboriginal infanticide is no different to Maori cannibalism and the Moriori. Itβs all a white man myth to make the brown man look bad.
Until itβs proven as fact.
Those aren't myths at all, it's widely known to be true. The myths are that the Moriori are extinct, or that it was more than two iwi that slaughtered the Moriori.Aboriginal infanticide is no different to Maori cannibalism and the Moriori. Itβs all a white man myth to make the brown man look bad.

Oh you'll be pretending when you're running your business (if that's not make believe which I suspect.)Wait, Iβm meant to pretend that they didnβt? I guess you pretend your kids arenβt getting bashed. Not my style though
I grew up in the 90s NZ. Both of those things were routinely referred to as βmythsβ.Those aren't myths at all, it's widely known to be true. The myths are that the Moriori are extinct, or that it was more than two iwi that slaughtered the Moriori.
Iβm sure Naarm University will be thrilled to publish a study called βInfanticide amongst Aboriginal Australiansβ. If there's something more modern and peer reviewed, I'd genuinely be interested in seeing it.
Lucky that was 30 years ago.I grew up in the 90s NZ. Both of those things were routinely referred to as βmythsβ.
The issue isnβt whether a university would publish it, itβs whether the evidence supports the scale of the claim being made.Iβm sure Naarm University will be thrilled to publish a study called βInfanticide amongst Aboriginal Australiansβ
I really canβt see any issues at all with that![]()
100% I agree. But you wouldnβt be allowed near records to even study it. Theres 100s of references to it in contemporary writing of the period. Not that that is conclusively proof of anything. The issue isnβt whether a university would publish it, itβs whether the evidence supports the scale of the claim being made.
Allegations recorded in 1840s newspapers arenβt automatically proof of a general cultural practice.
What's the implication of Denisovan DNA?100% I agree. But you wouldnβt be allowed near records to even study it. Theres 100s of references to it in contemporary writing of the period. Not that that is conclusively proof of anything.
Youβre talking about the country that finds the oldest humans remains ever and buries them without study. We only just admitted Tasmanian aboriginals werent extinct. We havenβt even started the Denisovan conversation yet.
How does Denisovan DNA enter the genetic record of a peopleβs that claim 65,000 years of continuous culture? What's the implication of Denisovan DNA?
