Politics 🤡 Donald Trump

Provide a bit more context into the head of fbi shutting down an investigation with all the hallmarks of a murder and a landslide that occurred sadly taking lives. I understand Maori are to blame? Do you know much of what he’s alluding to and is that correct? I must admit that having interactions with the poster, I can understand j_p’s response
The council are being blamed for the landslide.

They ran the camp and didn’t close it. They closed the mount but didn’t close the camp. There was the call to council about the start of the slip 3 hours before and they didn’t come out and check. Council did many geotech investigations of the area over the years but didn’t identify the risk. Council removed trees at the slip - debate as to Māori involvement. Debate around the health of the trees.

And now the council is running their own investigation into the cause and response to the slip. Massive conflict of interest.

And this week preempting the report even starting, the mayor is saying it probably couldn’t have been prevented…

These dogs just laughing at us. Releasing the files on purpose, testing us to see what we’d do, what do we do fkn nothing. Imagine the other corrupt bs they’re gonna do now.
Stop paying taxes would be a good first step

I have zero understanding of Japanese politics so slight teasing aside, I am genuinely curious as to any insight.

All good, bro. Wellll, I feel like Japan doesn’t really exist on the left-right spectrum as we understand it. Takaichi wants to revise the constitution on one hand, which is a very right wing thing to want to do, but has also thrown a lot of yen into the public healthcare system and plans to suspend the consumption tax, which are very much not right-wing things.

She seems to be all things to all people at the moment, which probably isn’t sustainable? She strikes a good balance between corporate-facing policies and public-facing policies, but has a dodgy populist side to her as well. The LDP are kind of smart in that they can ride her popularity while it exists while also having a younger, more liberal PM in waiting as well (Koizumi).

These are just jumbled thoughts. The economy is the bottom line, though. If real wages continue to stagnate here then watch her popularity plummet.

Is immigration a problem at all in terms of numbers and need for it say from China and Korea?

There is absolutely a need for it, but Takaichi has explicitly chosen economic deterioration over the import of labor.

Japan is unique in that the typical thing of having a problem with foreigners actually stems from the behavior of tourists rather than residents. But of course rather than kill the golden egg of tourism the authorities want to crack down where the problem doesn't exist (ie, foreign residents). It's a total Punch and Judy show for morons.

Will never be not funny seeing his public criticism of "millionaires & billionaires" instantly changing to just "billionaires" the second he officially became a millionaire.

Yay politics.
What would make him worthy of criticism? Donating everything he has?
