Sounds like weβre going to have a lot of people displaced by AI.But this is the conundrum in a nutshell, whoβs going to do those jobs for the low wages? Itβs no different over here in low paid jobs historically that weβve brought people in to fill the roles when they canβt be filled for the low wages. Itβs like American manufacturing too, all well and good to say bring the jobs back to America, but whoβs going to do them when the product is manufactured overseas at a pittance. In a world where money comes out the winner every time, itβs not realistic without wage growth and more money to attract those that arenβt interested. Thereβs also the conundrum of machine type workers as theyβre produced and that could have a bearing on immigration for work purposes too? Immigration also needs to be bringing in the correct people for the roles of for work purposes and after the Christchurch earthquakes, Irish builders were brought in working to a poor spec and a lot of the boom of work in Christchurch right now is remedial work performed by them
I guess stronger labour laws. But this is the conundrum in a nutshell, whoβs going to do those jobs for the low wages? It's one of the aspects of neoliberalism. It's a feature.I guess stronger labour laws.
Better minimum wages so nzers can do those jobs without being impoverished.
Better welfare systems. Then you wouldn't need so much cheap immigrant labour.
And you don't need it. It's been encouraged by people who want to see wages stay low. So they can make more money. At the expense of everyday people.
The only thing certain is uncertaintySounds like weβre going to have a lot of people displaced by AI.
Look out for the local accountant cleaning toilets at the local camp ground instead of immigrants![]()
Can't wait for wiz to see that one. It's one of the aspects of neoliberalism. It's a feature.
If the president is conducting unconstitutional activities, why would he take cases to the court? This logic makes zero senseYour assertion that the "entire judicial system" is not following the Constitution is so far from reality that it is laughable - if that is the case why is POTUS taking cases to the SCOTUS?
Clearly you are uniformed about what is occurring in the US - are you the Scotty Stevenson type referred to in another thread? If the president is conducting unconstitutional activities, why would he take cases to the court? This logic makes zero sense
It should be petitioners taking POTUS to court.
A poor person today is richer than the richest man in the world 100 years ago. It's one of the aspects of neoliberalism. It's a feature.

Yay and we are only totally destroying everything and killing off thousands of plants and animal life. But at least some people get to be rich and have things like yachts and sham wows and carbon coated copper bullet hoses.A poor person today is richer than the richest man in the world 100 years ago.
Neoliberalism and trickle down where we all benefit from the advances made

Actually we all get access to decent healthcare, unavailable 100 years ago. We all have access to transport, communications, etc that would seem like magic 100 years ago. The average person has more access to knowledge than the best universities 100 years ago.Yay and we are only totally destroying everything and killing off thousands of plants and animal life. Tool.
Once again a disingenuous liar.Actually we all get access to decent healthcare, unavailable 100 years ago. We all have access to transport, communications, etc that would seem like magic 100 years ago. The average person has more access to knowledge than the best universities 100 years ago.
Plants and animals - we care for animals 100% better than ever before. Look at the rich countries restoration and rehabilitation programmes compared to the poor countries.
The MΔori wiped out the Moa not because they wanted to but they didnβt have the knowledge of today where most endangered animals are protected and areas are set aside.
We ate 100% GE and organic 100 years ago⦠and had a life expectancy at 35 years.
Donβt embrace a victim mindset. Being anti rich blinds you to the realities of everything good we all have. Making out everythingβs bad all the time must wear you down![]()
People in the third world are infinitely better off than 100 years ago.Oh yeah and just ignore the 3rd world aye wiz.
