Agree it is too easy to blame it on misogyny or racism. People jump on those two things to quickly nowadays. It's economic, I don't think this has much to do with gender or race. Exit polling pointed to economic conditions worsening for most people.
The Dems have offered very little to working people. No campaigning for healthcare or wages - the Dems tried to capture the no-trump republican vote, which failed miserably.
Progressive ballot initiatives, like minimum wage increases and abortion rights passed pretty convincingly in red states where Trump did well like Alaska, Montana, Arizona, and Missouri.
In the end she wasn't a good candidate.
I would say the same would have happened if they continued with Biden. Trump getting voted out was the first time in a long time a president didn't get voted in for a second time. So, they can compare a Trump term to a Biden/Harris term.
It came up briefly here before the election. The comparison to Ardern taking over before the election. I've mentioned that Ardern didn't know her policies in detail or discussed things that weren't a government issue. But I can see why people voted for her as she was detailing a vision. If she was asked something she'd outline why things would be better. The "Let's do this" phrase worked as people wanted change.
Harris on the other hand wasn't selling much of a vision besides women's rights and not Trump. She should have had some policies that she wanted to improve from the previous 4 years.
People have said she has policies, do some research. Americans who were her voting base didn't know her policies. People reporting on the election didn't know her policies. That is a big problem.
She said she will continue to fight. That may just be in the house over the next four years. Let's see if she can win the primaries over other candidates.
Let's see how the vote with a strong female candidate.
