HuhI kinda hope Trump gets in. I know he is a cock but he is the only chance the US have of making any significant change to their corrupt political system where you can only get into power if you are a part of the system and backed by big business, whether republican or Democrat.
At least with trump you will get change, you might know what the hell kind of change you are going to get but at this point anything might be better than what they have now and the direction they are going.
In actual fact it probably doesn't matter a whole lot who is in; the bureaucracy most likely runs the country for the most part but Trump is also more likely to make any dent in that because he isn't there to make anyone happy so he can keep all his cronies supported through the next election cycles.
You’ll find that TVOne will be taking a continuous feed from their US affiliate who (iirc) is the ABCGuys how can I watch the US election blow by blow as it comes in? I have the sky sports package and don't have Fox news or CNN.
So you think somebody who has been proven in court to be corrupt is best placed to sort out corruption? Not sure that would be a widely held viewI kinda hope Trump gets in. The majority of Americans (>80%) believe that the two parties are more interested in fighting each other than running govt because nobody else outside those two can get an opportunity to run; that the cost of running means nobody good gets an opportunity to run; that special interest groups and lobbyists have a major say in what happens in politics. So you think somebody who has been proven in court to be corrupt is best placed to sort out corruption? Maybe so but Trump isn’t the answer. A lot of people think he wants a one party state with him in charge of it. He’s akin to a third world leader who sees political power as a way of enriching himselfThe majority of Americans (>80%) believe that the two parties are more interested in fighting each other than running govt because nobody else outside those two can get an opportunity to run; that the cost of running means nobody good gets an opportunity to run; that special interest groups and lobbyists have a major say in what happens in politics.
The whole system is corrupt. The only opportunity to change it is for someone from outside the two party "machines" to win; Trump is disconnected from the machine and in reality the Republicans don't want him, he has been forced on them.
If not Trump, then what's the answer? I am sure people in America know he is far from perfect but the desire to override the system and make change means that is their only option.
If you're an American voter there is no other answer than to continue to support the status quo; that's not an option for some people. So someone who doesnt follow the script and becomes a quasi dictator or cant be constrained\guided by the parties rules is an attractive option. And he isn't really a dictator as he doesn't have that kind of power because the bureaucracy and rules limit it, so there is risk he will do damage but there is also a chance he might effect change of the system, I think thats what people are voting for - I doubt it will work as the machine will just roll back in after 4 years but who knows.Maybe so but Trump isn’t the answer.
