Hereβs my take on the problem with US politics.
We hear endless stories on Trump but we never hear about the leader of the opposition, whose role in a democracy is to hold the govt to account.
The problem is the Democrats donβt have a leader of the opposition until the next election. Thereβs no one voice with authority to call Trump out and make him look like the idiot that he is.
Thatβs not Trumps fault, that looks to be a fault with the US democratic system. In any other country the leader of the opposition would be having a field day embarrassing Trump and we all know thatβs his weakness - his ego, ridicule and being embarrassed.
Additionally, in our βparliamentary houseβ style of politics where the opposition directly asks questions of the Prime Minister, he would be under sustained pressure and personal embarrassment.
The US democratic system has glaring weaknesses and Iβm glad we have our system.
