I see Singapore is being put forward as an example of economic efficiency here. Out of interest I checked its percentage of public sector workers: 2.6% versus total population. Luxco is aiming for 1%, down from 1.2%? Seems fucked to me, but I'm a Communist or some shit.

Not too sure where you got those figures from as the latest data from the public service shows 2.2% of all NZ employees are employed in the public service by the government (64K of 2.89mill) while the total employed by central government is 14.4% (417.7k pf 2.89mill).
