Or in most local body councils it seems
Takes a very different type of person to get involved in my experience
Very true. A lot different to the 60's and 70's where most of the councils were business men and women as they were the only ones who could afford the time off. They were obviously looking after their own interests but success in business generally brought prosperity to the town/city/district.

NZF seem to be keen on big name candidates like Taine
In Tauranga we have Mahe Drysdale and what a disaster for us

Not sure to be honest, JN might know. Strikes me as more progressive than conservative but hey, I don't live there

Taine would definitely feel at home there and I see they are going after the Poly vote with Alfred in the ranks

Will certainly be an interesting election
Tbf Rick I am not much into local politics here but ask any of the locals and stand back
The 2 local MPs Sam Uffindell and Tom Rutherford are really under the pump here especially Sam. I was talking to him in the supermarket a few weeks ago and he didn't impress me at all. Seems completely out of his depth.

Some talk Sam was one of the famous five back benchers in revolt. Bit sad if true as Luxon went into bat for him over the boarding school incident.
He certainly hasn't made any impression in parliament, in fact I had forgotten all about him until his name came up in dispatches
