Not panicking?Apart from announcing details of stock, figures supplied by the industry, name 3 things that the Government are doing to manage this crisis
@Rick OβShay @wizard of TaurangaYou really are a sad person at times
First it was about current stocks and when that was fixed it's now but, but, but.
If Godzilla does his job and no one decides on the nuclear option it should improve
The worst part of this decision for me is the cancelation of the ocean going tow enabled vessel to drag one of these big fuckers into safe harbor when eventually one falls to peices in the middle of the Strait during a winter stormUnder the previous contract for the ferries that this government cancelled, costing hundreds of millions to New Zealand taxpayers, one ferry would have been here by now, and the other would be here later this year.
Instead:

Connemara cancellations will impact freight companies -Transport NZ
BlueBridge has extended cancellations with the ferry no longer expected to resume services until at least Tuesday evening.www.rnz.co.nz
Madness ehThe worst part of this decision for me is the cancelation of the ocean going tow enabled vessel to drag one of these big fuckers into safe harbor when eventually one falls to peices in the middle of the Strait during a winter storm
A new ferry will make a lot of sense if that was to happen![]()
Madness eh
If something unfortunate was to happen this lot will have blood on their hands.Madness eh
You have a lot more faith in Shane Jones than I do RickNot panicking?
@Rick OβShay @wizard of Tauranga
You both need to refine your nero fiddling.
Here's someone who knows what they're talking about.

Trust Nicola Willis more than him for sure. You have a lot more faith in Shane Jones than I do Rick
If he told me it was raining I would go outside and have a look
Not really Rick. She's intelligent and articulate. She knows the same as the rest of us, SFA about where this is going. There are no experts. You can hypthesise all you like but it's an unknown, not dissimilar to Covid.
I hope you've started walking to work?
Question
This is not correct. From the same article you've linked:βFuel stocks have risen since the Governmentβs last update, with data showing New Zealand has over 50 daysβ worth of fuel remaining in each of the three major fuel types as of midnight last Wednesday.β
Costs are up but I donβt think weβre going to have chronic shortages that affect industry.
Great management by the govt and seems the panic and govt blaming was just the usual crisis over everything mob.

Fuel stocks rise to more than 50 daysβ cover, including diesel
The Government has updated fuel stock levels.www.nzherald.co.nz

She never said anything other than maybe everyone is being a bit optimistic or did I get that wrong? Not really Rick. She's intelligent and articulate.
The sort of person some of your mates are afraid of.
And sexy. She never said anything other than maybe everyone is being a bit optimistic or did I get that wrong?
I agree with her by the way so I guess that makes me intelligent and articulate as well.
Jesus wept, don't let Mrs Rick see that, my stocks aren't all that flash at the moment after a big weekend in WhangamataAnd sexy.
Fucking hard to stock up on aviation fuel RickTrust Nicola Willis more than him for sure.
Bottom line JN is there is no surety of supply. You don't need a PhD to figure that out and those who were smart enough when the shit first hit the fan will have taken provisions to prepare for rationing which will happen in my opinion, if this goes on much longer.
The issue for us is and always was Diesel.
Not sure how many remember the last fuel shock with carless days (which was easily rorted) and eventually petrol stations closing at lunch time on a Saturday and not reopening until Monday am. That made any long distance travel pretty tricky.
It's only Kero mate. Not sure how old you are but growing up, all the house heaters ran on Blue Pennant Kero. Every household had a stock of 5 gallon tins in the shed. Aircraft still ran on 100 octane thenFucking hard to stock up on aviation fuel Rick
I have a trip to India leaving 23Apr so that should be ok and then late June to Ireland which is very problematic at the moment so hope that Wizβs faith in the Govt is not misplaced
Cheers RickIt's only Kero mate. Not sure how old you are but growing up, all the house heaters ran on Blue Pennant Kero. Every household had a stock of 5 gallon tins in the shed. Aircraft still ran on 100 octane then
Yeah, the Ireland trip could be a problem if this shitfest isn't resolved. We are supposedly heading to Europe in Sept so fingers crossed although we are booked through Singapore. Mrs Rick not too happy at the price of fares to Oz though for her grandchildren visits, I wonder who will blink first on the Tasman routes?
Good luck anyway.
Thereβs currently no crisis.Apart from announcing details of stock, figures supplied by the industry, name 3 things that the Government are doing to manage this crisis
Iβm headed to Europe in late June. There is still 80% of the worlds supply that doesnβt go through Iran. The worldβs not running out of fuel, so supply and demand will mean it just gets more expensive until supply meets demand.Cheers Rick
Too old to reschedule for the following winter
We are also going through Singapore via Singapore Air but not sure they will fly in with enough to turn around and get back to Singapore though- perhaps they could hitch a few Jerry cans to the back of the plane as a reserve supply
