Is the KiwiSaver ‘fiscal hole’ a glitch – or the whole point?
The government’s $3bn saving on KiwiSaver changes may come straight out of workers’ future pay – and it’s no accident.

The thread centers on New Zealand's upcoming election, primarily debating the economic management and policy differences between the center-left Labour government and center-right National/ACT opposition. Key criticisms target Labour's fiscal stewardship, citing ballooning government expenditure #7#272, housing unaffordability, and unfulfilled promises like KiwiBuild and dental care expansion #16#12. A user #7 highlighted Labour's annual 9% spending growth versus 1.5% under previous governments, arguing this fueled inflation. National's tax-cut policy faced scrutiny over funding gaps and legality, with user #215 questioning Luxon's reliance on "trust me" assurances.
Leadership competence emerged as a critical theme, particularly in later posts. Luxon drew heavy criticism after a contentious interview where he struggled to defend policy details #194#199#211, while Willis faced backlash for her economic credentials. Hipkins garnered fleeting praise for articulation but was ultimately seen as representing poor governmental outcomes #45#119. A trusted user #308 presented expert economic analysis contradicting Treasury optimism. Infrastructure issues—like Wellington's water crisis and the dental school staffing shortage—were cited as examples of systemic mismanagement #235#12. Notable policy debates included road-user charges for EVs #220, immigration impacts on rents #299, and coalition scenarios involving NZ First #182#258. Early fringe discussions on candidates' rugby allegiances gave way to substantive policy critiques, culminating in grim Treasury forecasts discussed in posts #271#304#308. User #168 also revealed concerns about Labour rushing regulatory changes to entrench policies pre-election.

I'm not sure. The goal posts keep changing and if Chippie doesn't know, how am I supposed to.Question. How many of Rick. Wiz and frank are women? How many have a pay equity battle and have done for years?
How many know what they're talking about?
Answer. None. Thought so.
I understand his stage name was Vlad The ImpalerWho's Vlad Barbalich?
I heard he won every round of the latest extreme sport, Impale It StraightI understand his stage name was Vlad The Impaler
Honestly Rick? You can read. You can clearly use the internet. I provided two links at leastI'm not sure. The goal posts keep changing and if Chippie doesn't know, how am I supposed to.
However my wife on the other hand professes to being a woman and I sure as hell don't want to argue the case with her.
As for the pay equity, I'll ask the question again, what exactly is the issue and who is missing out on the Thoracic surgeon wages?
You seem to go low and slow when someone asks for an explanation of your thinking on any issue under debate and instead trot out the same old observers (and I use the term kindly) like Keith The Hacker
I'd wager it's the right leaning groupsSo who's backing Glenn Inwood and funding these groups, local right wing business interests or some offshore political influence? Who's Vlad Barbalich working for, himself?

Good to hear. You get to hear and see much more being down there and I don’t doubt anything you say, but she inherited a shocking water infrastructure issue down there that’s going to take a long time to fix. Consecutive councils to blamehahaha nice one.
i think i remember hearing or reading it was enough to buy her apartment
which is modest. i know the building pretty well.
but still, having a freehold home is more than most have. especially at her age.
and for what it’s worth, i do think she may have been an okay mayor if she had have been a councilor for a few years first, she just seemed to very quickly find herself in the deep end without anything to offer other than racism, bigotry, or literally anything other than her own failings.
you know, kinda like every time latrell mitchell fucks up, or maims someone.
anyway. wellington has been BUSY the last month or so. green shoots they say. pretty good going, heading into winter proper.
i can say and VERY firmly, all of my business interests bar one (which is kind of a basket case anyway) are trading pretty close to (but not quite) winter 2019 so things are definitely looking up.
best we’re doing since before covid.
blame the government or blame tory whanau saying she’s stepping aside, blame the warriors sitting pretty in the top 4.
i don’t know but things are definitely looking up.
down here, anyway.
she absolutely did.Good to hear. You get to hear and see much more being down there and I don’t doubt anything you say, but she inherited a shocking water infrastructure issue down there that’s going to take a long time to fix. Consecutive councils to blame
Ah well, I’m sure everyone has their gripes with council and mayors. That water wastage is criminal thoughshe absolutely did.
but she also lost the room when after consultation decided to pave over everything that needs replacing with bike lanes no one uses.
i run in a lot of them most days. thorndon quay in particular. you’re lucky to see 10-12 people use it most days.
and as for the half million dollar bike rack outside the council building they were already moving out of, well no one uses that either.
add to that her golden mile pipe dream. it just starts to look like someone self obsessed and wanting her name on something with no real idea of consequence.
turns out she found out the hard way.
had to take the ardern fast exit and jump before pushed and absolve self of accountability.
100% on both!Ah well, I’m sure everyone has their gripes with council and mayors. That water wastage is criminal though
So if you don't know enough about this or any issue why do you continue to post links and articles and so called factual information from a certain viewpoint. Why not post a few links to the BFD, Kiwiblog or Breaking Views to get a different perspective.Honestly Rick? You can read. You can clearly use the internet. I provided two links at least
with accurate information. I don’t know enough about this issue to offer any firm opinion, regardless of any goading.
I do know from the opposition on here by certain people that it's a cause worth fighting for simply by the level of ignorance shown by those comments.
I'm sure you can also speak to actual women and find out how things are.
Plenty of factual information for you.
Kiwiblog. Eeyew. I choose to stay away from toxic cesspits. It gets bad enough in here.So if you don't know enough about this or any issue why do you continue to post links and articles and so called factual information from a certain viewpoint. And, you're saying my wife is not an actual woman? Haven't shown her this yet. Bit afraid.
shes not going to be happy!you're saying my wife is not an actual woman? Haven't shown her this yet. Bit afraid.
Bit of pussy at your place if I remember correctly marv. Bald ones tooshes not going to be happy!
you could try and boil it down to neoliberalism.
it’s for the rich by the rich.
it’s who they are!
something like that anyway, apparently.
maybe add in atlas if you get stuck.
