'Bullets coming': Health NZ staff lay grievances against Levy's razor gang
Commissioner's cost-cutting adviser Brent Goldsack is understood to have told senior staff that executives would be in the gun, and he was doing the firing. Jonathan Milne investigates.newsroom.co.nz
A number of sources have recounted that Goldsack told a finance meeting that, despite hundreds of accountants at the organisation, ‘I could cut my f***ing thumbs and fingers off and still have too many fingers to count the number of people on the call that can do accounting’.
At another meeting, sources say Goldsack told senior staff there were ‘bullets coming’ for executives, and he was firing them. Some of those executives were gone within weeks.
Newsroom has put these comments to Health NZ, asking if such language is acceptable to Dr Levy – and if not, does Goldsack still have his confidence?
