good point.
what would the conversation be if kids spat on the ground in front of rawiri waititi and booted his car with him in it as he left?
Think Jacinda Ardern copped a fair bit of behaviour that likely sees this quite mild. Recall footage of a vehicle she was travelling in being blocked in its attempts to leave to the point where it went up on the pavement and once again blocked by a few young girls filming it

that’s right, i remember that! the girls yelling abuse and chasing the car.
god people can be vile.

unpopular as seymour may be, and ardern became, they shouldn’t have to deal with intimidating, threatening or violent behavior like that.

people should show some fucking decorum.

I do agree of the point of shouldn’t have to put up with intimidation and vile behaviour but I’ve never subscribed to the belief that everyone deserves respect, even the elderly. To me respect is earned and I’ve even met elders that don’t deserve any respect as callous as that might sound

I'm not condoning spitting per se. Spitting on the ground in front of someone is disrespectful, then in another context it is a sign of your lack of respect for that person. A subtle difference.
If Rawiri Waititi was the recipient in the same context (haka) it wouldn't change the meaninng. I'm sure he would respond in a Maori context too.
As for the young fella that did it I hope his kapa haka kaiako lets him know theres a fine line between disrespect and expressing lack of respect, the correct way and time to do it plus the discipline of not letting your emotions overcome your challenge (wero).
As for the booting of a car, if it was my kid I know where the next boot would be going.

No offence but that doesn't address the underlying philosophy at all.
Sorry, I should have made it clearer in my post that it was more on how fund operate (especially with distorting their returns by including property values, not disclosing their entire fees on their "returns" and comparing to benchmarks which aren't relevant to the investments in that fund) than a comment on the fairness of the tax system and how that's distorts funds in Australia. But thanks for linking that article... a really good read.

Nothing wrong with protesting Seymour at a school. Esp a Haka. It's a powerful response.
The spitting might have been a bit too far, but he didn't spit on him. Seymour is entering the find out stage of his attacks on welfare.
His party wants to attack employment law and holiday entitlements next - The kids are showing the adults up, long may the protests continue.

Feel sorry for the Greens and the upheavals they've faced since the election. I wonder if they'll do a review into their selection processes like National were forced to do last term.

Green Party’s horror run continues with MP Darleen Tana’s suspension - Audrey Young

Welcome to the Politics Briefing. Who would have guessed that the Greens would be plunged into a series of crises, and so soon after posting their best election result ever? But with the suspension and investigation of Waiheke-based MP Darleen Tana over an employment dispute involving her husband’s e-bike business, the party has been thrown into further turmoil.

Tana was standing right behind Chloe Swarbrick last weekend when Swarbrick was elected to replace outgoing co-leader James Shaw. The reason given for the suspension was that while she declared the dispute to the party on February 1 and another the following week, she may have known about it before then.

Tana gave her maiden speech in Parliament on February 14 and it was a cracker. I ranked it among the best. She has not spoken in Parliament since. The party is conducting its own investigation and the dispute will be heard by the Employment Relations Authority.

Former MP Golriz Ghahraman pleaded guilty to shoplifting this week (and was escorted from court by a bodyguard shining a bright torch into the accompanying cameras). She was replaced in the Green caucus by Celia Wade-Brown. The death of Fa’anana Efeso Collins rocked the party and he was replaced by Lawrence Xu-Nan; and when James Shaw steps down, he will be replaced by Francisco Hernandez. The next person on the Green list is Benjamin Doyle, who contested Hamilton West for the party.

absolutely. nothing wrong at all with protesting.
the spitting however is vile and pretty fucking low caliber.
the booting of cars and jeering is nothing more than violent intimidation and takes a lot of the good out of the protesting.

No mention of the high ranking party member from the other side, who quietly left his post last year because of historic sexual abuse charges? Oh that's right, he got name suppression because of the election.
