The thread centers on New Zealand's upcoming election, primarily debating the economic management and policy differences between the center-left Labour government and center-right National/ACT opposition. Key criticisms target Labour's fiscal stewardship, citing ballooning government expenditure #7#272, housing unaffordability, and unfulfilled promises like KiwiBuild and dental care expansion #16#12. A user #7 highlighted Labour's annual 9% spending growth versus 1.5% under previous governments, arguing this fueled inflation. National's tax-cut policy faced scrutiny over funding gaps and legality, with user #215 questioning Luxon's reliance on "trust me" assurances.
Leadership competence emerged as a critical theme, particularly in later posts. Luxon drew heavy criticism after a contentious interview where he struggled to defend policy details #194#199#211, while Willis faced backlash for her economic credentials. Hipkins garnered fleeting praise for articulation but was ultimately seen as representing poor governmental outcomes #45#119. A trusted user #308 presented expert economic analysis contradicting Treasury optimism. Infrastructure issues—like Wellington's water crisis and the dental school staffing shortage—were cited as examples of systemic mismanagement #235#12. Notable policy debates included road-user charges for EVs #220, immigration impacts on rents #299, and coalition scenarios involving NZ First #182#258. Early fringe discussions on candidates' rugby allegiances gave way to substantive policy critiques, culminating in grim Treasury forecasts discussed in posts #271#304#308. User #168 also revealed concerns about Labour rushing regulatory changes to entrench policies pre-election.

What happened?More race vandalism in Plimmerton this time.
No biggie as far as I am concerned, these little reminders that we are hated in our own country keep one awake and aware.

Mindless. Hard to remove idiots from the gene pool.Just tagging bro on the road to the Marae "Black C***s only.

When I say trend I mean the spray paint incidents not a trend among peoples of different ethnicities as such.
For whatever reason it seems a small group of idiots are embolden to waste spray paint.
That is something to be mindful of, these people are a tiny minority. So true bro.
Hardly representative of the good folk in the land.
Just tagging bro on the road to the Marae "Black C***s only.
BASE jumping without a parachute comes to mind as a place for them to start.I just don't get people who feel the need to do this shit.
Absolutely ridiculous behaviour.
Like, get a proper hobby or something...
On East Coast Rd on Auckland’s North Shore 3 sets of traffic lights including Xped crossings were installed October-November last year in a stretch of about 750mIf anyone led a stop paying rates protest until some heads rolled over this, then I would be in.
Drain the swamp of our transport engineers who must lead the worst public service in NZ.
And ad for Brown, he talks a good game but why is this incompetence still happening?
Is this by the Pupuke Gold Course? On East Coast Rd on Auckland’s North Shore 3 sets of traffic lights including Xped crossings were installed October-November last year in a stretch of about 750m
As at today the lights have not been switched on!!!!
years and years ago my favourite octogenarian in sydney said something that’s always stuck with me.Mindless. Hard to remove idiots from the gene pool.
That’s themIs this by the Pupuke Gold Course?
I live by there and have to drive past there to go to work. The road works around there and down Apollo Drive have meant I've barely had a day the last year on my short drive to work without any road works.
The work around the gold course the speed bumps around the round about I think work quite well. The lane changes around the Sunnynook roundabout look like they could cause some issues.
