My mum was a piano teacher... she wanted to become a concert pianist.

Before she passed away, she lost all her short term memory but still entertained the other residents (or follow inmates as she referred to them when she first went to the rest home after her fourth fall) playing one of Chopin's piano concerto's from memory. It was a piece she'd learned over 70 years before as a teenager... but she wouldn't be able to tell you what she'd had for breakfast that day.
I could just sit there for days watching a master of their instrument as you probably did with your Mum. Short term memory isn’t flash myself but for other reasons, likely an early stage of what’s to come unfortunately. Fascinating thing the brain

Decades ago, I was asked to play at a gig for a 60th birthday party when their normal drummer wasn't able to make it.

Afterwards, I introduced the pianist from the jazz/easy listening band/trio to one of my closest friends. Not only were they related, Mark had been named after the uncle I "introduced" him too!!! Senior moments can happen at when age!!!
