Got rid of Neon and signed up to Prime two weeks ago. Have watched Reacher and started Landman. Anyone have any shows or movies they recommend???
Enjoyed Fallout, if your ok with animation ā€˜Invincibleā€™ is pretty good, likewise ā€˜The Boysā€™ (and spinoff gen Vā€™) are pretty twisted looks at the superhero genre and worth a watch

i dont know about you, but the only dick and nut sack i want to see if my own.
Donā€™t really care, itā€™s only some skin. Iā€™m no exhibitionist, but happy to see the adult human body in all its forms. Seems like itā€™s something that youā€™ll need to get used to, baby Billy on the latest episode of righteous gemstones is in all his glory. All that and Iā€™m not even šŸŒˆ

I just wish Hollywood wouldn't go all one way or the other on stuff.

It is entertainment, which is about giving people what they want in their leisure time. I want escapism rather than having lessons on morality where they don't belong. I'm left-leaning and not at all adverse to representation (even when it comes to being confronted with another man's junk). I just feel that we have lost so much of the fun and escapism in shows.

When House of the Dragons was due to come out and the creators proudly announced it was GoT minus the needless gratuitous sex and violence, I was ready to boycott it on the spot. What dipshit thought that was what consumers wanted?!

It all reminds me of the environmental crusaders of the 90/00s. Trying to get the message across with disruption of people in their every day lives or by morris dancing instead of the genuine validity of the message itself. What happens is that people just reject a message that they would have otherwise been in support of.

Anyway, I genuinely think that the entertainment industry is starting to soften and get it right again now, which is a relief.

Wait what?!

You are gong to boycott GOT because they were gong to cut back on the gratuitous sex and violence?ā€¦..

The innocence of story telling is lost because of unnecessary sex. violence and activism trying to change the themes and narratives of past stories kids grow up on.

Society needs a reset.

Itā€™s been widely accepted and even a draw sometimes for female nudity, so if thatā€™s ok I canā€™t see the issue. If you donā€™t find nudity in general acceptable, then I can understand. Generally we all have these body parts and films are usually a depiction of society from one time or another so if someone doesnā€™t want to acknowledge that part of society, donā€™t go and see the film. Many were anti brokeback mountain and wouldnā€™t see it for that reason alone, but itā€™s actually a good film. Tragic actually

Really only got Neon to watch Yellowstone and rewatch Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. All great shows...

Neon has the all of the best of really

Breaking Bad / BCS
Boardwalk Empire
The Wire
GoT
The Last of Us (I'm pumped for the second season, though having played the game I know it won't please many)
Sopranos
Succession
Fargo

I just finished Mare of Easttown, which was really good. Watching The White Lotus and The Leftovers at the moment. The Leftovers is real out there. I need to watch Six Feet Under at some point.

HBO max is launching in Aus this week and I know Binge/foxtel is a bit worried as pretty much all of their decent content (seemingly the same as neon) will be lost- is it the same in NZ?

Not that I am aware of, but the changing nature of subscription TV has been a rort over the last 12-24 months. Massive increases in price, few new shows and lots of shows disappearing. Nothing that comes next would surprise me.

I have to have Disney for the kids and it has had the most ridiculous price increases.

I'n no rugby head, but I hear Sky may not broadcast NPC any more, and I'm sure if they get away with that they'll stop broadcasting domestic cricket, NSW Cup etc.

Disney just got ESPN - which is a nice addon. Goes from $15.30 monthly (annual payment) to $18.30 monthly (annual payment) this year. Which isn't too bad.

I see that it has here too in the last few days. I have no interest in ESPN, for us it is a kids channel. They release a show I'm interested in once in a blue moon. The price has gone from $9.99 to $21.99. If you are into ESPN then that is probably okay, but it shits me for the kids when there is not really anything new coming out. Especially when you add on whatever other channel we are subscribing too for us + Sky Sport for the Warriors/cricket.

I used to have them all, quite affordably, and like most am just picking and choosing each couple of months now, as the total bill was getting massive. Each has essentially doubled in the last 3 years,

Yeah Iā€™m in the same boat, basically ditched pay tv for streaming and used to have them all but then the price increases plus sneaking ads in has pissed me off. Iā€™m trying to kind of cycle through them but new ones keep popping up with 1 or 2 must watch shows each.
Also in Aus they spread the sport around so Iā€™m forced to keep Stan and Paramount longer than Iā€™d like if I want to watch Rugby or A-League, and recently Prime has picked up cricket content and Disney + no has the American sports leaving Kayo with pretty much just league. Itā€™s getting to the stage of not following a sport because of the spread.

Edit
I see Sky blocked HBO max launching in NZ, Iā€™m surprised Foxtel didnā€™t do the same in Aus- itā€™s about 80% of their decent content
