Yeah its pretty disgraceful really.By then end of the year Root will have played 71 tests since 2020 vs Williamson's 27.
The previous 5 years was 74 to 49
Particulary in a format we're pretty decent in

There are certainly realities in an imbalance. We have less money to host larger series etc. I can handle that. The part that is disgraceful is that the ICC and world cricket has stood back and watched our home summer be almost wiped out by T20 domestic leagues without protecting us.Yeah its pretty disgraceful really.

It's really annoying that our Feb-Mar test window has virtually been wiped out by the IPL run South African league happening directly before the IPL. It seems we need to be playing them over Nov-Dec now. There are certainly realities in an imbalance. We have less money to host larger series etc. I can handle that. It really gets me that kids are on Christmas Holidays for 6 weeks of non-international cricket. Live cricket over Christmas is part of the NZ way of life. It's really annoying that our Feb-Mar test window has virtually been wiped out by the IPL run South African league happening directly before the IPL. At least we're here in December I guessThe Black Caps fixtures have been officially released from today. The great news is that the West Indies test series has gone from 2-3 games.
The shit news is there is no other test matches (bar July's Zimbabwe fixtures). The outrageous news is that the NZ team is away for January February (WTF), before yet another subcontinent-based world short-form tournament.
T20 tournaments have meant we have had to move our summer to mid-Spring - early-Summer. We got lucky with the weather last year, but it would be very fortunate to continue to have that luck.?

What i don't like is a heavy 5 match T20 series straight after a T20 world cup! How is this? The Black Caps fixtures have been officially released from today. The great news is that the West Indies test series has gone from 2-3 games.

Unfortunately it's the only way NZ cricket can generate a bit of revenue. We used to be able to do a 5 test summer with a 3 test series against a heavyweight over March, but it got cut down to two in order to fit in more T20s for this very reason. Now it's probably going to be the norm to just have one test series in early December for the years we don't go to Australia. What i don't like is a heavy 5 match T20 series straight after a T20 world cup! The summer after however![]()
