They need to show some confidence in Sodhi so that he can feel confidence himself. I though the way they played him in the first innings was textbook "how not to play a wrist spinner." He should have come on when wickets fell rather than when the batsman were dominating so he could find his rhythm.

His ability to spin the ball both ways could be crucial.

It seems as though they've only got him in as a back-up (because Santner is injured) - perhaps with an eye to the future given they're backing GP and Ravindra.
