Sports 🏏 Black Caps

We are really fighting to stay in it for the day now. Poor shot from Ravindra and Blundell has been in a batting slump for a little while.

I've never rated Blundell in tests and surprised he has 4 centuries and 10 50s.

I think the batting needs a changing of the guard much like the bowling has.

Latham, young, blundell aren't the ones that will take us anywhere.

It’s sad that our slim hopes depend on a big score by someone who doesn’t take no for an answer. Even just what he admitted to in court should be enough that he never plays

I think a change in coach first. Not sure Ronchi is the best as batting coach. Would love to get someone like Ponting in even if it's for some guidance and a few training sessions

Ffs Southee should have been trying to hang about till at least Lunch.
It is Wellington and anything is on the cards with regard to the weather

Disappointing result, but still an enjoyable test with lots of shifts of momentum. It all came down to the day 2 first session with the negative fields that allowed Green to get reset. That was the clincher and the partnership with Hazlewood should never have been allowed to get to 110.

I still feel this Australian side is beatable at Hagley. Their batting has been no better than ours all summer. Hopefully we get Conway back.

Taking our catches would be great

Not quite rock bottom but close.
- Kuggeleijn should never have been there for various reasons, not least of which is he's not great and was ineffective
- Southee is at best a third seamer now, and given his form well....if we had other options I'd bench him
- Southee's captaincy is not proactive. The Aussies had great plans, great fields and implemented them perfectly
- I've watched one test live for a long time (covid aside) and had the privilege of the golden era between 2013 and 2021. This team are a shadow. They were extremely flat and no one fired at all
- Australia showed great teamwork and there's a great atmosphere around the group. NZ used to be the same, but that has gone. That sense of camraderie and support was visibly missing
- Far too much short ball cricket. It shows in their batting, bowling and fielding.
- As an indication of the rot there was only FOUR first class games in nz since November. Most of the current team didn't play in them
- Stead, Ronchi at a minimum should go
- Wagner has been treated appallingly and would have been a better option than Southee and Kuggeleijn
- O'Rourke got no notice to bowl that last over and lo and behold he got injured - extremely bad captaincy
- The batting was appalling - hardly once did Australia actually get us out. Poor shot selection, lack of ability to perform at test level apparent

So far away from where we were as a group under Hesson.

Jeremey Coney had a great observation "Australia will make us play test cricket". Right now, clearly, we can't.

Take out Cameron Greens 174 this game wouldve been a lot closer, still may not have won but it wouldve been closer......while their bowling line up is all time their batting has big question marks and is where u can get them.....i actully thought our bowlers didnt do too bad......let them off the hook a couple of times but did manage to keep us in the game.

Obviously tho their bowlers are a class above our batters and thats the problem.....and probably will be whenever we come up against the top sides. Nice to see Rachin score some runs 2nd innings. If our batsmen can somehow guts out some scores u can put this Aussie team under pressure.

Only thing more disappointing than our batters is that commentary team which has zero chemistry or character....... some of them (Craig McMillan, Katey Martin) should come with a "dont operate heavy machinery may cause drowsiness" warning.
In comparison I thought Brendon Julian was brilliant.Great insight & knowledge of the game at all stages
