Social 🎮 Video Games

Yeah, I've heard people who started with Valhalla absolutely loved it. But if you are a person that had played Origins and Odyssey previously it just felt like a drag. The world was way less interesting than Greece too. I love base building and a found that side of it really disappointing too.

It is taking so long to release games now, I pine for the days of lesser graphics, but regular releases of quality games. I've found the PS5 a damp squib in that regard. Most of my games come from Steam on PC now. It is so annoying that PS lost the rights to Fallout too. (great TV series too for those who haven't seen it).

I found Hogwarts pretty fun Bangbros. Mostly filler - I'm a completionist and that all got quite repetitive, but the quests were pretty cool and varied.

Atm I am using what little time I have to play Baldur's Gate 3, which has lasted me a few months so far. I love how faithful the gameplay is to the originals, which were some of my favourite games growing up.

Has anyone played Dragon's Dogma II? I was thinking of buying that next.
Yeah games take so long to come out now that if you enjoy one it’s like 5 years before the next instalment where the used to be 1-2 years. Problem I find with that is I go through a few drought periods where nothing interests me then you may get 3 titles come out at the same time.
I find the PS subscription service pretty good to try a few games I may not have otherwise bought

NZWarriors.com

I’ve considered getting that is it worth it?
I’ve actually enjoyed some of the ‘retro’ remasters lately like Alex Kidd, the new streets of rage etc.
I paid $90 so a bit pricey but $50 or less for sure, first chapter is slow to allow for training and it has puzzles along normal game play and boss fights.

Wont make your top 10 but wont be bottom 10 either

I appreciated the animation bro

Not sure if anyone else is keen on the game, but I have EA College Football 25 downloading at home, ready for me to play well into the night lol

Have been hitting up the team builder while I am at work (Not the best look when there was the gaming addiction thread the other day hahaha):

Mostly sharing because I thought it was cool considering Vegas next year, but if anyone is going to be playing this game and wants to download it, I could share it whenever the team builder update comes out

A few weeks ago after leaving the kids on holiday and having to drive the wife back we went out and had a look at TVs. I also took the chance to get a PS5 at the same time.

It was funny as my youngest gets funny while away. I kept checking in as I was getting busy during the day. He found the reason why when he got home. Mind you he thought his mother brought a new TV and a PS5 for me. I told her that was unlikely as your mother knows I'm an addict. 😆

It was a bit of a relief financially not buying new games over the last generation and getting cheap second hand games for the PS3 for my kids.

So far I've got

Tony Hawk 1 and 2
UFC 5
Fire Pro Wrestling World
Lego Avengers 2
Lego Ninjago
Rugby 22
Modern Warfare 1 (remastered)
Modern Warfare 2 (remastered)
Batman Return to Arkham (Contains the first 3)

The last 3 are still to download.

Can see why people complain about add-ons and paying extra after the fact. I've brought a few packs for the UFC and wanted to do the Promoter in Fire Pro.

The main reason for the PS5 was for WWE 2k23. I was about to buy it but saw the last two were released early in the year. So I held off and we are now getting announcements for it. The last one I got was 2K14 which celebrated the history of Wrestlemania. Looks like I will be getting the follow up 10 years later. Discovering casino games at https://kiwislot.com/ has been a thrilling journey! The platform offers an impressive variety of games, seamless navigation, and top-notch security. Winning has never been this fun and secure. I've enjoyed exploring new games, and the bonuses keep the excitement alive. Highly recommend KiwiSlot for anyone looking to elevate their gaming experience!
Nowadays explore UFC 5

What I love about video games is that there's something for everyone.

Never got into American football video games (ironic seeing as I love watching the NFL), but NHL and Tony Hawk's games made up a significant part of my childhood.

I'm currently mainly playing WWE 2K25 and Undisputed.

I wasn't going to get the WWE 2K games every year but I relented for WWE2K25 as the boys did pay last years one quite a lot. Hopefully, I don't get sucked into the minor updates every year. Before last year I hadn't bought one since 2014 so I did alright.

Undisputed had another update and DLC yesterday. The roster is starting to get better.

Also spent some money on NHL (24 or 25) and Madden 25. Quite a big upgrade in both since the last ones I played which were circa 2010. I do miss the old create a team and stadium in Madden. The graphics in the new one are impressive.

A new rugby league game (rugby league 5?) Will be coming out this year. Hopefully better than prior versions.

Super hyped, honestly maybe even more than I am for GTA6.

A little dubious of it releasing this year even though Abdo came out and said it- Big Ant Studios delayed Rugby 25 a bunch, and it was a pile of garbage so they are basically still developing it.

Also there's the fact that TruBlu held the license up until July of last year, assuming BigAnt weren't secretly working on it, that means the game has only been in development for 10 months max.

In fairness though, I bought Rugby 25 two weeks ago, and the improvements in the past fortnight are night and day, and they had to make that from the ground up while for League they already have RLL4's code to work off of

Nice my son has been asking if there would be a new one as my latest on is still from my PS3.

I hope it matches how the game is played now with set plays instead of just passing left to right and cut-out passes. Not sure how that would be to do via the controls and keep the game play at a decent speed.

When I got my PS5 I wanted a cricket game and started with Bradman 15. Mainly due to cost.

The plan then was to get Cricket 2x and ended up with 24.

Just looking at the artwork and that 24 had more licenses I thought it was from a different developer. Ended up just being an improvement on the game I already had.

A bit frustrating but I could see the funny side as I could have just went straight to the latest.

I still call Tim Southee "Tom Northee" based on whatever cricket game it was we played the crap out of in our flat 15+ years ago 😅

Some of the player name swaps in unlicensed sports games can be hilarious ha!
Not to dox myself. But my surname in a lot of games gets pronounced differently even in the same game.

On the old EA Sports MMA my surname looks like it has a easter egg when you fight in Japan and it has the old Pride FC announcer. She would say the name and a comment afterwards.

I wonder if the ref will go upstairs for every warriors try so the video ref can spend 5 mins looking at all available angles in slow mo, ultimately reverting to the ref's original on-field call, which was a no try

that would be very realistic

Bit late to the party but been playing Ghost of Tsushima interesting enough but probably a little too close to Assassins creed for mine which I got a bit bored with when it became a bit too repetitive.
Previous replayed the God of War games
Much better game than any of the Assassin's Creed games though. I think it held my attention pretty well. Actually think it was one of the first games I platinumed on PS.

Just finishing up Metaphor Refantazio at the moment - type of game that is up my alley, and it is good, but nowhere near all the hype.

As of last week I've started trying to make my own 2D platformer for shits and giggles, partially inspired by games like Shinobi and Mega Man. Will probably be a car crash, but why not.

I kept calling Franklin Frinkler after playing one of those old cricket games too!

I found it better than AC too. I loved the setting, duels that felt quite authentic and the quieter moments like the Haiku. By that stage I was well and truly over AC though.

I have never spent so little time on games (I'm 45 now). I find there is just not that much coming out that I connect with, and they are really expensive. A good game is worth the money, but it is a real issue when it isn't.

Having said that I stumbled onto a JRPG that took me back to the good old days called Octopath Traveller 2. Oldschool random encounters etc. but I had fun with the storylines. It made me crave less focus on graphics and more focus on gameplay, story and regular releases of top games.

The last AAA game I played that I really enjoyed was probably Elden Ring/Horizon Zero Dawn, which is going back a while.
