Social šŸŽ A Weighty Issue

A professor in nutrition gave a surprise quiz to her students one day to see if they had read the next chapter of the medical book over the weekend as she'd asked them to.

One of the questions read.... "In less than ten words, how would you describe a person who can eat anything they want and never gain weight?"

One of her students answered. "A bitch!!!"

Wrighty Wrighty how are you going? Hopefully you are sticking to it and not slipping back.

I'm at a phase where i seem to be only very slowly losing anything. Hovering around 99kg for the last 3 - 4 weeks. Really want to get to the 95kg mark quicker but happy that I'm not going the opposite way.

Exercise plan has been implemented and slowly increasing.

It's likely that what you are eating is at maintaince. I wouldn't add more exercise as that's not sustainable. I would start by reducing something like one table spoon of food per meal for a week.

When you've lost a lot of weight sometimes the body will also slow down with the weight loss.

Had our bloods done a few weeks ago. Mine have dropped and become more normalised I.e. lower iron, cholesterol, sugar counts and so on.

S got a call from one of the practice nurses at our doctors and was concerned Sā€™s cholesterol was too high. When she gave S a number in the high fives, she was concerned that S wasnā€™t worried about and was actually really pleased with the number so S suggested that the nurse looked back at her previous blood test results. When the nurse saw that Sā€™s cholesterol had actually dropped down from over nine, she congratulated S and told her to keep doing what she was doing.

Dietitians and nutritionists will probably say this is the wrong thing to do but Iā€™ve stalled for a few weeks just above 100kg so had a few days of only eating apples and increasing the water intake. This led to far more 1ā€™s and 2ā€™s but also rebooted my metabolism and the weight loss has stayed again.

Try getting a bit more fibre, say Apples, Carrots, Corn and Beans.

I have found most dietitians and nutritionist to be worth less than dog shit. They still promote low fat processed foods.

I haven't heard of this before and I am in front of a computer all day.

On reading that my mind did go to the old 90s infomercials for Blue Blockers where people would act like they were blind and by some miracle they could see. Or could now instantly look at the sun.

I have sun glasses I use for cycling which has 3 different lenses that can be swapped in or out. One being with an orange tint. I'll admit they are good once you have them on for a while and you notice a difference afterwards. But they way they would put them on and instantly go "WOW" was comical.

It interesting how people who donā€™t have all the facts lead to a wrong interpretation

The other thing they were concerned about was Shayleenā€™s WBC and another of her antibodies was lower than normal and want her to get another blood test done within six months. What they didnā€™t know was that between us seeing the doctor when she ordered the blood tests and doing the actual tests, sheā€™d had a bad chest cold so it was little wonder they were both down.

This article was on Stuff last week. No need to read the entire thing as it's one of those modern articles you think this is interesting and it goes on and on and on. Had a few like that when Trump was president.

It does touch on some things I've mentioned around obesity and the trend for people pushing the healthy at every size message. A lot of people follow influencers whose entire existense is the fact they are overweight.

Like a few things in society we may have been too far in one direction and instead of correcting to the correct place we have gone too far in the other direction. For diet or body type, it could be argued in the past it was too far in the direction to being close to anorexia if you look at models or what the ideal body shape was. Now we get large models or people promoting being overweight.

not sure I agree with this take. Most humans can easily add 2hrs of exercise to their daily lives.
It's not sustainable in the sense that your life can get in the way. If you are already doing 1-2 hrs exercise a day, adding more is unsustainable. Inruin already said he was doing some. If you look at those guys on the Matt Johns Footy show, they have all round shape now, cause their exercise stopped but their food intake is still the same as when they were playing.

Weight loss or Muscle Gain is 80% Nutrition 20% Exercise (unless you are a pro-athlete).

In saying all this, it's all about the individual. Whatever exercise you will do is the best exercise. The healthy food you can stick to is the best healthy food.

I have been getting tired eyes and headaches because I am pretty much in front of a screen for most of the day. Heard about this blue light galsses and thought Id have a look but there doesnt seem to be any scientific evidence it helps so might see if I can find a cheap pair and test them out

I find the term ā€œsustainableā€ to be a crutch for the lazy. In general, not in your case. In terms of making diet choices, they harp on that cutting carbs and sugar ā€œisnā€™t sustainableā€. Well turns out it is. With discipline. Which is what most people lack.

Exercise to fatigue (6-8 hours per day) and the weight drops off!

Works for me
