Current Affairs 🌡️ Weather / climate change

Many more extreme weather events in the past 6 months causing an unprecedented number of states of emergency.

Lives shattered, billions of dollars lost.

The hottest extreme years on record for the last four years.

Insurance companies now refusing to insure parts of New Zealand.

How about that anthropogenic climate change eh?

Oh that's right, our government is regressively backing fossil fuels, running down alternatives to cars and has shut down the resilience fund

Gotta say we have not had any of that down here in the last few years other than the odd tornado but that's usually in Devon Street when the bars close.

Maybe it is true that we are the home of the brave and the land of the free or DNP wields extraordinary powers similar to Wolverine.

Who can’t get insurance?

WOW council rejects blame and puts it down to *check notes* nature...

In a recent statement, DCC rejected suggestions that its stormwater network is the main cause of flooding in South Dunedin and pointed instead to a range of natural hazards affecting the suburb.

Look at you Frank. Thing is, it's happening Frank, regardless of the disinformation driven conspiracy world you live in.

And how much bile you spew in here.

Anyways, I have a friend who was advised her car insurance company was canceling her policy as she had had 5 claims in the last 2 years. To be fair four of them were the other party but it seemed outrageous to me. I contacted the ombudsman on her behalf and got the "oh well, not much we can do"
Name and shame these companies in my view and the CC needs to take a long hard look at these assholes.
Just for the record my home insurance here in the Nak is 52% Insurance company charge and 48% EQC (has a flash new name but can't remember it)
Bloody disgrace.

WCC part 2. Nothing to look at here, nature can apparently be a bitch

Of course, I knew the Koch brothers would get you eventually. Where else would they get their money? ;)

The hand wringers are on the slippery slope, Net Zero is dying a quick and painful death across the world. People are waking up to the grift it really is and are voicing their opposition.

Power bills and energy costs influence votes, 2Tier Keir hasn't quite got the message yet. Fortunately decision makers here did.

Good article today about the German Chancellor bemoaning the fact Germany destroyed all their Nuclear reactors a few years ago. All the major proponents of Net Zero have energy costs through the roof.
Crash and burn baby.

Of course, you're a denier right Rick? Patterns of politics intimate patterns in other areas
