Welcome to the AC v DC rabbit hole.

TLDR Fossil fuel + nuclear generators rotate, which balances the electrical frequency, which is unbelievably important for electrical grids. Renewables dont, so you have to spend shitloads on extra equipment to do it for you, which increases complexity. Whether they were the cause, or unable to carry themselves, or something else remains to be seen.

I won't pretend to understand it, can you explain how renewables don’t balance the frequency in the same way as nuke and FF generation, is it because solar is coming on the grid from DC batterý storage?

All the rotating parts in the turbine and generator effectively store kinetic energy. When there is a sudden increase in electricity demand, there will be more energy being taken out of the system in the form of electricity than coming in from the steam power. When this happens, the rotating masses in the turbine and generator slow down, giving up some of their energy. This allows time for the power supplied by steam to increase to match electrical demand.

Fully renewable electricity could destabilise the grid – but old coal plants may have a solution

Banks should be banks, not climate police.
As time goes by there is more acceptance that the fairytale of the world ending shortly due to us is BS.
Climate mitigation is the answer and getting the hell out of the Paris thingie should be a major priority.
I can't figure how people think that paying "someone" and I use the term lightly, 20+ billion of our hard earned funds is going to make things better.
And can someone really explain how carbon credits help us as a nation (follow the money)

Banks are private corporations. They can do what they want. And they know man made climate change is real, and the fact they choose not to actively fund it should be a very clear message to us all.

Banking is an essential service, highly regulated by the reserve bank who must ensure the efficient operation of the economy.

Their primary purpose should be to provide services to everyone. Once they start picking and choosing, what’s to stop them debanking ‘low profit’ poor people?
