Its also just a crapshoot predicting who will actually make it.
Actually we know that in everything the ones who make it are those with "grit". We just don't know how to make people grittier. There is an interesting book about it but here is the short version from the author.

And often talent is an inverse indicator, so the more talented you are the less grit you have.
I reckon that is just learned behavior, so the easier it has been for you, the less grit you have, because it's all been so easy you didn't need to develop grit.

It applies to everything - including work, school military and sports.

I think Roger was on about $650k and ive heard rumors (but refuse to believe them) that Rocco was on upwards of 500k.

Wahbrick is good and will be an upgrade, but given his age and a kiwi even with a decent contract i cant imagine hes on more than 450-500k.
I know Zero Tackle isnt very accurate but they have no out n out wingers on over 500k currently.

Anderson? At worst would be 400k surely? Maybe less.

Either way, im guessing we save around $250k or so.

That, on top of Marata, Barney and TMMs contracts surely give us around $2mill even after WW and Andersons potential signing.

Some of that will go towards upgrades etc (hopefully Boyd and CHT have a couple of nice upgrades) but I feel we have the potential to sign a 1 million marquee player, or even 2 decent, international/Origin level players (about 5-700k each)

I would think Niukore’s money would already have been spent with the upgrades on Halasima, Vaimauga, Laban and TSS. Not to mention Metcalf’s pay jump

We will have a good amount of free cap through Barnetts release and if we don’t end up keeping Capewell.

I've been thinking for a while that CHT not signing since Nov 1 is maybe a bad sign.

Anyone else remember the rumour a number of years ago that CHT wanted a release to the Storm(maybe?) but the Warriors rejected it?

I remember they let him test the market and he ended up retiring, then returned when he saw Webolution unfolding, it would be a bomb if we don’t resign him but with a preseason Webby can probably make another half become a superstar next year, or that guy called Metcalf 😂 (with proper preseason training)

I Suppose it's a bit of wishful thinking in keeping our massive plethora of half stocks.
Cant keep Hanson, Cleary, Boyd, Metcalf, And Tmm.
I guess the club already indicated which way they were heading last year.
But man I'd be jumping up and down if we let Cht disappear.

Oh really? Haven't spoken with Nate since I deleted Facebook years ago and he went for a little holiday.
He’s Calvin Harris Tavita along with his brother Chanel, Klein and number 5 respectively. Very interesting watching nrl 360 and their scuttlebutt but the Nathan wants a challenge rumour has begun and don’t think the unthinkable isn’t thinkable is what one of them was saying. Then came the completely made up Ivan and Nathan to roosters package deal. Not getting my hopes up but Nathan and Jett halves here would be a great outcome

This was 5 days or so ago and today was don’t think he may not leave the panthers and who goes to market just to experience it? We must have some coin and I’m really wondering if we could be a chance for the Cleary’s to return

Can we ask Ivan for another early release? They can have Tanah and Luke combined

Could be why we’re not seeing CHT or Boyd not extended when most are thinking there must be one coming? TMM another halve potentially not here? Then if course there’s Jett here

Jett can return home and groom at FG like 2018 again, were they thinking Met 6 Cleary 7? Big risk letting others go and compete after Nov though and if we lose out or not get early release there’s another year’s gap

Better to lock down the current combo and if he really hits the market bargain with Ivan for a direct swap later I’m sure that’d be a win for everyone, Lussick is having a good time, Luke would be better swap if we have Cleary’s x factor and health

Thank you for your service Marata Niukore

It’s a tad little disrespectful saying the Knights have overhyped the signing

I was super excited when he joined in 2024

Highlight was definitely when he squared up to David Fafita. Just about wet my pants watching 👀

Knights know what they bought. Good luck to him and the Knights. If they can stay healthy easily top 8 in my books next year
