General NSW Cup 2025

NZWarriors.com

I think overall the club is in a much better spot than it was in 2011.
Complete pathways as opposed to U20s/Toyota Cup (Which Gus Gould said, rightly, was not a sign of being NRL Ready, as it was being touted and the trap the Warriors fell into), NSW Cup and NRL. U17s and U19s being the gaps.
We want to become the kind of club where when we fail to make the Finals it's a Big Deal. At the moment, it's the other way around. We should always celebrate, sing the song louder and longer, when we guarantee Finals football, but... The Job Ain't Done Yet!
There was a time when the Queensland Cup was regarded as a better comp than the New South Wales Cup, if today's Queensland's best are a sign (and add the commentator's comments about the Brisbane Tigers signing up as a feeder club for the Perth Bears), things are a-changin' on that front...

I know he's had a few tough moments at NRL level but overall the recruitment of Boyd has worked out.

Having an experienced half guiding these guys around the field would have helped with their development.

We have a few guys from this side moving on. Good way to cap off their time with the club. A few spots opening up for a few others to prep for first grade.

Johnson on the Matty Johns show the other night said the Cup side give the NRL side a good go in opposed sessions. Iron sharpens iron. Lets hope things are getting sharper.

tbf this has been the case for most of our cup games this year. Just take a look at our last 2 weeks in the cup finals. The Eels and Dragons games were pretty even I thought over the whole. There was just a 10-15 minute period in both games where we ran riot and scored like 20+ pts and that was the game.
I didn't think the Bears were as bad as some are saying. If they nailed those first two chances it would have been a different game. We were still the best team no doubt but they put up a fight, they just don't have our talent, they needed a grind but we took it away early.

what a great way to cap of the season. i'm super excited for some of the guns to make their way into first grade and to continue to develop some of the talent. David T has done an excellent job and i hope he gets a shot in FG (preferably with us).

…. Maybe with the Southern Keas / Bulls?

2 Tannah Boyd masterclasses in the last two weeks were key. On the back of a great team effort, his added class in guiding the team about and his kicking in general play were huge. He seemed to have more confidence digging into the line than in some of his latter FG runs.
Loved following this team ( and the unofficial commentary from @Leon Black ) and the other lower grade sides. So good seeing so many members here genuinely interested in the pathways and with a great understanding of the talent coming through too! 🙌🏾

Hes undefeated in cup this year!

Tend to agree with Gus we probably need another team in Auckland. Maybe not in the NRL, but the Warriors should look at fielding another Cup team. There is just way too much talent. To lose only twice and to have so many debutants at the NRL level tells you how much league talent is around Auckland. Just got to look at Paulie Roach who was one of the better players for Burleigh
