I don’t understand the pay equity issue.

Hipkins can’t even define what a woman is, so how does he know woman earn less?
There are 33 claims against the current Act which has an estimated billions + projected cost to the government. Changes to the Act re-sets these claims' process, eliminating the projected payout and returning the governments books to a better outlook (balancing the budget). The issue is the claims affect thousands of women and years of work to get the claims heard.

Not only that it makes them even more difficult to resubmit.
As usual lawyers on both sides will be horning up

It’s obvious that the contributors to this absolutely hate the decision to cancel the ferries, you think they’d at least be honest. The $500 million hasn’t occurred since the contract was cancelled but, if they’d read the RNZ article they linked their posts to, they’d had seen that just under $480 mil was spent before the contract was canceled and under the previous government. But why should they let the facts get into the way of their biase.

There are more men in dangerous jobs, dangerous jobs get generally have higher paying to compensate for this. Hence men get paid more because of this...

"Between 2005 and 2014, New Zealand recorded 955 work-related fatalities. Of these, 89% (854 deaths) were male workers, while 11% (101 deaths) were female. This equates to a fatality rate of 8.2 per 100,000 worker-years for men and 1.1 per 100,000 for women, indicating that men were over seven times more likely to die from work-related incidents than women during this period"

Men work (on average) longer hours, in more specialist jobs and more dangerous jobs. They get paid more on average because of these factors - not because of their gender.

Correlation is not causation.

No surprises here in this govt of the rich, for the rich, by the rich, of the landlords, for the landlords, by the landlords, of the franks....oh wait.

WE NEED A CAPITAL GAINS TAX. NOW.

Developers pay tax. A capital gains tax doesn't impact them

What is happening in the article is a compliance issue, not a capital gains tax issue
