Social Religion, Spirituality, Universe Energy...

Worried2Death Worried3death
what about you, do you see a creator or intelligent designer of the universe?
Honestly, not sure either way. Fairly open minded to people's views and beliefs. It's a substantial topic to get in to. I think ultimately if you are comfortable with who you are and are leading a good life then that's all that really matters.

I find that where things get confused or murky, like many things in life, is when religion or spirituality is misrepresented or used for a purpose that doesn't coincide or correspond with that.

Same, not much of a thread if we just agree with each other. We need someone with fixed views either way to debate.

Do you ever imagine what it's like to have that level of faith in something or someone? Would there be a peace that comes with that?
Yeah I'm very envious of that kind of certainty. There's no comfort in a cold Godless universe, although the thought of death's sweet release can be be comforting sometimes I suppose, presuming we don't exist to be aware of the oblivion.

Or anyone who wants to share their viewpoint. Some I find never actually express theirs but are quite happy to deride others.
Not sure why anyone would be interested in my religious beliefs.
My wife attends church every Sunday (except when it's raining ).
I believe there's lots of great people who don't attend church and are non believers and some absolute arseholes who are deeply involved in religion.
Pretty obviously .
Not interested in your beliefs either as it's none of my business

That's the end of that thread then, should have called it Mind Your Own Business, Nosy Bastards.

Do you have an opinion on universe energy or positive thinking or whatever you want to call it?

Does sending positive thoughts out to the universe work? Does it manifest because that's what you are thinking? Is praying an extension of that? Is it like a self fulfilling prophecy? And then does that reinforce a believe in a higher or universal power?

Could do, but I put that down to cause and effect, then confirmation bias to further convince you of the divine energy. Personally I don't see any reason to think there's some universal consciousness, unless it gives you peace of mind and you're àble to convince yourself.
