I dunno. When I went to the last game down there the crowd were mostly from out of town. I have doubts that they would half fill a stadium every week if they were relying on locals

As a south islander myself, the people there who talk shit about the NRL generally just laugh at the Warriors and say they are shit. And that's nationwide really. We haven't been a successful team, we are based in Auckland, expecting cantabs to jump on board and support the Warriors isn't a certainty.
But give them their own team, then you'll get a dedicated supporter base down there quickly IMO.

Awesome to see. I know CBHS ain't overly keen on their 1st XV prospects playing League though. I heard Dougal Grant, notably absent from this squad, had a hard time of it last year when prioritizing League. Apparently left the boarding hostel as a result

It's an odd age group where a good percentage of boys are out of school but the demands of Warriors training makes it hard to hold down a physical job or do full time study.
I have high hopes for Victor Kenese. He missed last years Matts with a foot injury but captained Manurewa HS to almost take out the national schools. He's got a Josh Papali'i frame, roughly 183 and 120kgs plus and a good engine.
An interesting new player is Lucas Va'aga who finished at De La Salle last year. I haven't seen him for a few years but he was about 195cm or taller then, easily the biggest kid at the school in year 12.

Eels, Storm, Roosters and Souths have looked good in the preseason although I expect the Warriors to be undefeated before going on the road in round 5.

He'll need to slim down a bit. He's going to add muscle to that frame and the game will move too fast for him if he's 125kg+
Great to have these kind of monsters on the books. Was getting jealous of the Broncos with Te Kura, Willison etc

114kgs isn’t too bad for 6’6 and he looks lighter than he did a few years ago. Pre season has got him into shape it seems. I haven’t seen much of him play but heard he was a bit unco in school rugby, probably just growing pains etc. I’ve never seen him play league. He was moving well in the trial video though. If he’s one of the younger boys in the squad, he’s unlikely to get much game time yet. I thought he was a year older. It’s great to get some different body shapes coming through too.
