NRL NRL 2025 General Recruitment Thread

Have seen articles in recent days saying Meninga wants salary dispensations to attract players, but apparently other nrl players haven’t been in agreement that they should. PNG probably going to struggle even more? They will really need tax exemptions as floated
It’s a bad look for the club to be asking for exemptions 3 weeks into the window to sign players..
The question should have been asked when they were awarded the expansion and should never had been made public.

Jahream Bhula wants $900K to resign with Tigers. Tigers have negotiated and are close to resigning him.
I wouldn't resign him on big money. Let him go play for perth.
Great kid, awesome attitude and good family. I see your point though. He feels a little passive and not worth that type of money. Statistically he might be? Great kid but $900k is a lot of money, I think CNK at his peak was better but never got close to $900K

That R360 announcement to the agents. The Key points

Sounds like they were trying to get it going too fast. Didn't have enough funding. Now the longer competition will be better for business partners instead of the initial 2026, 2027 seasons. Yes likely true. But more likely another two years means we can sort our shit out. But they can't email that to the prospective agents.

Conditional contracts have been terminated. Well yeah, they can't fullfill their end of the bargain. Organising teams and a competition for the players. I wonder if there were any signing fees paid out? Could have been a nice bonus for some players.

It aligns with the 2027 Rugby World Cup. Next time around union will probably be more underthread than the NRL. It is a union competition after all. NRL players should be there to round it out.

The NRL are close to their next broadcast deal. The numbers being talked about should see a big lift in the club grants and the salary cap. That should help in holding off R360 raids. Some players will be interested in union or the travel. They will have to compare the full R360 schedule vs the NRL. The initial shortened seasons for more money would be appealing. But a full season with all of the travel may not be.

I'm also sceptical on how popular it will be. Initially there will be curiousity. After that it seems like the XFL.

Was doomscrolling tiktok and saw a video of two guys talking warriors recruitment and one of them said something along the lines of "the warriors are hoping pos will do us a solid"

Can't find it now but I think he was referring to Peter O'Sullivan? Isn't he the recruitment manager at the knights?
Great Intel. You have done well.

Who are the guys and are they the equivalent of warriorholic or better?

POS would be Ponga….

Ya always looked like 360 will be more plausible after the union world cup to attract super stars in the correct code, it’s a joke trying to sign league stars that northern hemisphere fans have no clue about, even their franchise players will be more well known than Reece Walsh and Haas, and league fans are bored by union or “touch”.

American or Saudi businessmen finally worked out current strategy is throwing billions away

Sounds like bears have signed Toby Sexton. Also dolphins won’t be offering Jamayne Isaako a contract for 2027. Shame he’ll be getting on by then, great kicker

Surely Isaako gets picked up by the bears. Will be 30 at the start of 2027, would still have a couple of decent years left.

Given our love for older wingers, if we dont resign Roger and didn't take Dallen up on the mutual option for 2027 I could see us throwing him a life line as depth. Pretty bare there considering Kali and Mellars have no FG experience
