Bloody hell thought some moves were a foot.

Pages and pages on Morgan Harper? Where does he fit into 2026 / 2027?

@Wrighty you started it! Don't make me get the importance meter out again.

Also some interesting posts suggesting Penrith & Wahs have some sort of collusion going on. I don't buy it.

Some moves have been made that fit the narrative but many more would go against it. If anything, I think Penrith are emulating our approach of signing fringe first graders and backing themselves to improve them..

Also, some of this Freddy chat seems a bit short sighted.. Highly unlikely we are straight cutting him. He will absolutely have something lined up (that would have been suggested to him that if he found something we wouldn't stand in the way).

NZWarriors.com

As experienced Webster ites we know he goes with the tried and true and is loyal to his Vets.

I think Inch is no chance as you say vs that Trio but Linane is a special case.

I could believe that Linane has been brought in with a potential NRL debut this season on the basis that Webster is looking like he wants speed and dynamism out there.

Rather than threatening CHT RTS TT in the short term I think Linane is a threat to Te Maire Martin in a 14 debut scenario.

The reason I say that is that Cappy really wanted Linane at the Warriors, so much so that he publicly came out and said he is star signing, and he managed to convince the Warriors to go after a busted player.

“His outstanding qualities as a player are his running game and his speed. We look forward to developing him in our system and giving him every opportunity.

He’s an exceptional talent and a terrific young man,” said One New Zealand Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden.

Exceptional talent is not a phrase you see thrown around by our coaches in this regime, they really believe in this guy, they think he is going to be a star.

We really look forward to giving him every opportunity.....I think that one statement when read after the calling this guy outstanding talent is where the Warriors view Linane, they think he is another Metcalf, they think they got him early, they think they have a future superstar halves pairing - and they have Nathan Cleary's little brother in reserve.

Certainly you can see how if they inject a fast running five eight in Te Maire's cameo slot - drop CHT to dummy half for ten to fifteen minutes, a role he looks great in for Samoa.

With Linane signing and placing Metcalf at seven it is now clear our plan is to have the fastest halves in the NRL.

Which tells you their plan is creating space by second guessing the opposition numbering, with the hope it draws in the opponents to take down Metcalf with their stand off and their edge back rower.

Which gives Metcalf options to draw and pass or kick to Linane and his outsides, or use a cut out ball.

The problem with all the attention on Metcalf as we know is that a shift to Linane offers just as much speed threat to their Center and Winger/fullback, which gives Linane the option of either a short draw to Gannon with pace on hitting that ball, or a pump fake and go ala Metcalf, or a straight ball to Gannon for a cut out to AKP.

That's without even factoring in our Center which we hope is Ali and can run a straight line, put on a shimmy to draw and pass to AKP.

And if you really want to skull fk them in the eye hole you put Leka stacked with Gannon on that side and look like Penrith on the move who look like they have fifteen players when they run set plays on their strong side.

We would instantly have a very fast wide attack - as quick as Brisbane with Walsh or the Raiders or the Panthers and Storm.

And lets not forget that with AKP we have a legitimate cut out ball and let him do all the work player. He has that Xfactor footwork where we can just throw it out there and let him shred as a legit game play.

Also I think that the bench spot for Linane would be a short minutes played thing which fits in with this protect the young guys on debut scenario, I can see the Warriors using that back on the bench role to one day drop Cleary in there or eventually Inch.

The other thing about RTS and CNK is that they are showing signs of age, and Webster has been through that now with Tohu and SJ, he knows he needs to start next year with the older guys, then if they look like SJ and Tohu syndrome 2.0 pull the trigger a third or half a season in and bring in AKP, Linane, Taine - even look at Mellars.

Father time will not be stopped no matter what plans the Coaches have nor dreams the fans foster.

And at least the coaches have experience of that now, they know they have to look to the future, they just had an amazing year of discovery, hell they put Metcalf in the seven and it was a Dally M move.

They unleashed Leka Halasima the most exciting forward in the NRL after ELi Koatoa.

They introduced us to future Warriors Captain Dimitric Vaimunga Sifakula.

They let a Laban back onto the RL world stage, and finished with throwing EIT out there with Stowers Smith.

This is not a coach that is going to be afraid of using new players next season.

2025 was the year Andrew Webster went wild with selections and threw his Cup stars into the NRL.

100% fitness willing Fatialofa plays NRL this season, why? because Andrew Webster now knows that all the hype about the Warriors junior forwards is actually true and he has seen it with his own eyes - a full season of proof, every young forward he used turned out to be an NRL player....when has that ever happened?
For us fans off seasons are made for dreams like this, AND I LIKE IT!!

Left wing. Mellars and Kali to fight for the right spot.

I don’t even rate him that highly but that speed would be nice, as long as we can get him quality ball.
I always feel like the right side gets better quality opportunities for us, but perhaps that's because for so many years we had SJ out there.
AKP speed will make a big difference for our attack, He will create a bit of a threat that will require extra attention and may give the edges a fraction more time and space or a desperate jamming winger which we need to be prepared to take advantage of.

I’m sure this will add fuel to the fire…

But Ponga and his Aussie girlfriend have just broken up
Another one. Think he split up with one of his mrs a few months back too? Was reading an article before about the constant roosters rumours that have been around for ages now, and how Tedesco extending for a season sets this move up. That would be for 2028 and Ponga would be 30 by then so he’s getting on a bit by then. I think he’s likely to see how this new knights setup goes and if it’s not looking like it’s going anywhere, then look to get out of it? I think both he and knights would be happy to oblige at that point. I’m sure he wants a title and time isn’t really on his side without knowing how long he’s got left in his career

Tbf maybe it was the one a few months ago and I’m just catching up on the goss.

Nonetheless he’s single, so fire up the ponga to wahs rumours again pls

No I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s parted with another? I get the feeling the whole Kiwi connection he’s spoken of is aimed somewhere? Whether that be Kiwis or Warriors? Still keen to see it but salary too generous currently for me, think he fits the way we play well for the involvement our fullback has with many carries

He’s been with the same one for the past year or two. That Gabby Dunn chick. Just wasn’t sure on the timing of them splitting.

Wouldn’t shock me if it was right before of all the Kiwi connection comments

Split up with her some time in September apparently? Not sure if you’re talking about another since? Totally feel like this is either talking about Kiwis or Warriors? Interesting he’s just done an ad for mayonnaise that he’s copped some grief for, think these sorts of things would be a good way to supplement his lesser salary with him very marketable

I reckon we could give the comp a good shake with
Ponga
DWZ- not sure which side AKP prefers but he or Mellars pushing DWZ
CNK-Berry when and if he can stay fit and Leiataua
Pompey-Leiataua possibly being groomed for this side?
RTS-AKP if RTS departs the club
CHT-Linnane if can grab it, or even TMM handy
Metcalf-Boyd in the meantime
JFH
Egan-Healey to share the role potentially?
Barnett-NAS if he chooses to come over and start with Barnett initially out
Capewell-plenty of depth at second row
Halasima/Niukore- whichever doesn’t start plays off the bench or if Niukore is still here?
Clark-Gannon to perhaps share the role somehow with Clark able to be prop and Gannon also being able to fill second row?

TMM-Healey potentially to add some impact and spell Egan?
Vaimauga
Laban-Niukore or Halasima as mentioned
Someone else? Plenty of others pushing and capable

I reckon with competition for positions and depth, that would be one of the strongest rosters on we know we can produce

World Cup nek year....I reckon at minimum, if he's fit I think he'll select to represent the Kiwis.

I think seeing the Kiwis, Tongans and Samoans in camp and that close bond they seem to form, he seems to really be wanting some of that.

Would be pretty funny tho, do Newcastle currently have 3/4 of the Kiwi's 2026 World Cup spine in Ponga, Brown and Crossland

I really think winning a premiership is high on his agenda too and if it’s not working at knights quickly, I think he’ll look to depart? I see us as able to hold genuine conversations being in a premiership window with the addition of someone like himself. Knights fans excited about Dylan Brown, and they should be but he’s not going to have that platform at knights that he did playing for the Kiwis of a dominant forward pack

Almost $3m of cap on 2 players. SURELY Newey have to sort that out…

Yeah I'm cautiously optimistic, I'd love to get him for 2027, but I can see him staying in Newy for 2026 to see how things pan out with Sandon Smith and Dylan Brown. If it doesn't work out I think we could be in with a chance...

I'm grabbing the popcorn and happy to sit back and watch either way

I kind of feel if you are going to have someone like AKP on the wing, which I am keen to see, you have to RTS because of AKP's lack of hardwork and metres from the back end. RTS is up there with TO'O as a metre eating winger.
