International Pacific Championship

Pretty big of Eli and his family to take this attitude. I see TMM reached out in the last couple of days and said he’s willing to help in any way. Could be some real concerns for his playing future

Some of that response will be cultural (you cannot separate the individual from the Family unit either).

Having Woolf there will ensure the family and the player make positive statements about the organization.

The cynic in me wonders about Woolfs whole motivations (I say whole because I am sure he feels for the player). But it is a bit like if you or I were in an industrial accident - then our boss was by our bedside daily......

He is already slightly past the longer average stay time in hospital.

I would say his situation is pretty severe without knowing more, for the Uncle to say he is getting stronger - suggests some physical weakness - but that is only clutching at straws (this is second or third hand information and it is a very general statement by someone who is presumably non medical).

Te Maire will be a great resource for him, in terms of the experience side to recovery.

First time I have heard from the bloke.

He is a really bright guy.

We seem to have a number of smart men who happen to be footballers in this generation.

His family must be so proud of him.

Difficult subject to speak out on when you are in the spotlight and have to live in the community.

He spoke with courage and conviction. Certainly someone to be admired.

I dunno what he is doing post footy career wise, but he is someone that would be good to see being utilized at Penrose.

Man Te Mairie’s case was a serious one, just googled he retired for 3 years, this sounds like career ending is on the table right now

Also just saw the mythbuster classic clips and found out the Japanese guy died from a brain aneurysm at 49 😭

Is the protocol the same as NRL for the championship? There probably will be some kinda crackdown on every player with a slap on the face next year

So did they find out which knock caused the bleed? The fallout will be interesting to see from this. Poor dude

Katoa heading back to Melbourne but I think he’ll be missing the 2026 season at a minimum

I do not know why he was passed by two HIA assessments. I guarantee you if he were reassessed in that picture we are looking at, at that stage of his decline, by someone expert and independent, he would not be sitting watching a league match un monitored.

Anyway, good news that he is being flown home, that means he is medically stable (has to be to fly) but not cool that it is a hospital to hospital transfer, which means he is too damaged to be looked after by family at home as of yet.....ergo any talk of return to football at this stage is pie in the sky.

So in summary, good he is stable, now the work begins on getting him to a state where he can walk, use the toilet, take a shower independently or with some in home help set up.

The fact they will lose Paps n Katoa and you think they will still be competitive unless they lose someone else says a lot about the storm system.
They’ve openly said they’re pursuing Tino, I’d expect him to go there. You don’t often see them lose players they want to keep like Pezet, looks like they’ll probably lose Wishart too. Even players like Shaun Blore who went there from tigers and gone well is testing his worth. Can’t underestimate what a loss Katoa will be, they’ll be hoping it’s only a season but I have my doubts

Any Fringe or NRL players in the S.A team?
Anyone know???
Their #6, Coby Thomas, played 23 games for Norths in NSW Cup this year, mainly at Lock, & bagged 7 tries. He's almost 26 & previously played for Roosters reserve grade as a half. Also their #9, Kobe Martin, debuted in Q Cup this year & had 5 games off the bench. Mid 20's in age
