NRL NRL 2025 General Recruitment Thread

Agree - He is a top 5 prop IMO. If we didn't have Barnett and JFH, I'd be banging the drum hard to pick him up.

Very different player to our props, and IMO would be that bigger body that we desperately need.
I feel the majority of our props - JFH, Barnett, Ford, TSS and even Vaimauga are smaller props with good speed etc, imagine them hitting a backtracking defensive line after Kolo's bent the line and found his front.

All of this for the low low price of a few $$ more than what Niukore is on.

I think we've got enough young halves moving forward, and hopefully our winger stocks are looking good with AKP, Mellars, Kali and Pasika coming through, I think with Roger leaving at the end of nek year, if Rocco stays injured we then have about a mill between their two contracts, if we were able to get a decent centre like Ramien or a good full back, we would have a very good premiership window from the 2027-2030 period.

Tell me you will drop 200 k and I ll take you seriously
In fact I ll give you the ph no
If for $200K you can buy a minority interest in the Titans and get a seat at ownership decisions then the Titans are the most tin pot cheap sporting franchise I have ever heard of.
Mind you I heard that the Warriors franchise costed about $20Million last time it was sold. So that is cheap as chips as far as sports clubs go so maybe you are right about $200K.

$200k to get into a business that has guarantee'd revenue to pay the players and gets a club grant each year & money when the league expands.
And a new mega TV deal on the horizon.

Maybe the forum could chip in and buy $200k worth of shares?

Hi Juju

I have no clue on this topic so you will know more than me but the traditional story for sporting franchises is that you do it for love of the sport and that most years if not all years you run a loss.

Do we need to start coming up with new forum names?

The Brisbane Broncos are publicly listed. As is the NY Knicks, Man U and Juventus. You can check historical performance.

You can also check buy / sell prices of private franchises. Crowe and Peter HaC bought 75% of the Rabbitohs for $3mil. Clubs worth $70m now and Crowe turned down $10mil for his 25%.

Probably pretty poorly? We aren't backed by leagues clubs or a national body and we sell event tickets cheaply in order to get crowds and create atmosphere. I have no idea about advertising strength, though.

You got to give it to Robbo, we were basically worth nothing 5 or 6 years ago. I would say we are pretty easily the most desirable NZ sports team behind the All Blacks in terms of sponsorship. Probably the best in NZ for merch sales and total tickets sales. We are still building as a club, some way to go. But we would shit all over the Super Rugby sides, but probably mid tier at best NRL wise due to our smaller market over here in NZ, and not having the leagues clubs and structure that most NRL teams have.

Yup & he had some real detractors in the alpha era including me. He and his family have really nailed aspects of their ownership. Massive kudos

I mentioned on another thread watching that sharko documentary about Mark Graham and was surprised to see Autex on the Kiwis training kits way back then. Obviously a very league proud family and franchise. His name just snuck into an nrl top 50 most powerful in the game a while back and everyone involved talks about his passion. I think this is the most professional the club has ever looked and seems like a bright future ahead largely because of his contribution and willingness to get the best

Yeah they're a league family through and through.

Autex are renowned for being a great business to work with how they value & treat their staff, so maybe some of those cultural values being transplanted to the Warriors.

Then theres that funny story of on Alpha's dad dying and telling him "Don't buy the bloody Warriors"...

Obviously knows how he wants to do things and it looked dicey as you mentioned in periods like the early bust up with Cameron McGregor and going it alone and Matt Lodge saga. Seems to learn his lesson and I really hope he’s the owner to pick up our maiden premiership, he deserves it with what he’s done to transform the club and the pretty much starting again in pathways and nrlw after covid
